Had an awesome time at Karstorama in Kentucky over the weekend! Explored some cool caves, met some amazing people, learned some new vertical techniques, and finally learned how to properly survey a cave! The older I get the less I like going to big events with lots of people, but it's not so bad when you're surrounded by a bunch of fellow nature loving weirdos. π

The best part about caving? 50% exploring the cave 50% exploring the area getting to the cave! Pretty sure we creek walked through one of the most magical hidden places in Kentucky to get to this cave. The waterfalls, moss, vines, thousands of mayflies or whatever they were landing all over us, it was an amazing adventure! And also the cave was pretty cool. π

Some of you may not know, but I don't spend all my time underground! π I'm also a rappelling/rock climbing guide in Hocking Hills, Ohio. Go check out Hocking Hills Adventure Trek if you'd like to rappel this 120ft waterfall yourself! It's seriously one of the coolest experiences in Ohio and no skills needed. We take beginners all the time! π

Caves are living things. How do I know? Because I've been to the brain of a cave. π§

Just your basic cave nothing to see here, keep scrolling... Wait, actually this one was pretty sweet! A drainage pipe that opened up into an underground wonderland! This cave had it all. Beautiful formations, slot canyon passages, tight squeezes that opened up to big rooms, multi-level passages that you could climb around in, natural bridges/arches, even came across a few pools full baby salamanders. These photos are screenshots from my GoPro. Full video is on my channel and I'm currently working on the second part that shows all the natural bridges and crazy obstacle course we went through after this!

Here are some pretty neat fossils I've come across in caves in Kentucky! I recently read they found a new species of shark while exploring a famous cave out there. Although I haven't found anything that compares to that, it is still one of the coolest things about caving. Just seeing the history of the world through the geology beneath our feet. You just never know what you'll come across down there. And who knows maybe one day I'll make a major discovery! π€

A land owner wanted us to come and check out some holes on their property. This turned into a 4 day camping adventure on some of the most beautiful land! We hiked miles up and down steep hillsides, squeezed into tiny entrances, rappelled down cliffs and pits, followed streams, camped with cows, and even helped him explore a significant historical cave he'd never gotten to fully see. As a thank you for letting us explore and camp we took his kids rappelling on their land. Gonna be some wild videos from this one so stay tuned!

Remember folks, a little hole in the earth can hide much more than what meets the eye! These are some GoPro stills from my latest video. It seems no matter how big the cave is I can always find something to squeeze into. It's a gift and a curse! π

I once found the magic conch shell cave formation! π I asked it "why am I doing this?", it responded " please try again". I asked once more "why do I explore caves?", this time the reply was different "looking for Hollow Earth" it told me. It was at this moment I found my purpose in life. ALL HAIL THE MAGIC CONCH! π

The entrance to this cave was so amazing. Just a little hole on the surface that immediately opened into a giant chamber. It made for some really neat photos!
