Tuberculosis of Cervical Lymph Nodes Abscess

Tuberculosis of the cervical lymph nodes, also called TUBERCULAR LYMPHADENITIS , is a common form of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis that mainly affects the lymph nodes in the neck.

It usually appears as a slowly growing swelling in the neck, which may remain painless for a long time. If not treated early, the infection can lead to the formation of a cold abscess, where pus collects in the lymph node without redness or severe pain. Cold abscess should be drained in Non Dependent Drainage technique and sample should be sent for AFB CULTURE, PYOGENIC CULTURE, CBNAAT, ADA.

Patients may experience symptoms such as neck swelling, mild fever, weakness, loss of appetite, weight loss, and sometimes discharge from the swelling. Early diagnosis through clinical examination, FNAC, ultrasound, or laboratory tests is important for proper management. Timely lymph nodes tuberculosis treatment helps prevent complications and ensures complete recovery.

GOLD Classification of COPD

GOLD (Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease) classification helps assess the severity of airflow limitation in COPD based on spirometry (PFT) results. Severity of COPD can be assisted by this.

1. GOLD Grades (Airflow Limitation Severity)

Based on FEV₁ % predicted:

GOLD 1 – Mild
