The QS World University Rankings 2026 are out. MIT is ranked number 1 globally, followed by Imperial College London, Stanford, Oxford, and Harvard in the top 5.
What is worth noting for international students is how diverse the top 20 has become. Singapore has two universities in the top 12. Australia places two in the top 20. The UK has four in the top 10.
Rankings are a useful starting point, but the right university depends on the program, the career goal, and the fit.
