What a lovely festive weekend I've had- I think I'm finally in the Christmas spirit 🎄
Not photographed is the dinner and drinks on Friday night as the Christmas Party for my weekly craft group, followed my a visit to the Christmas Market in Wicklow Gaol with my partner.
Captured in a few little here is the Christmas Dinner feast with friends on Saturday evening, followed my trivia, karaoke and lots of catching up, before a cosy slow morning breakfast together on Sunday and a short hike through Crone Woods.

No video this week unfortunately 💔

If you watched my last video then you'll know I was due to walk St Kevins Way this week and share it as this weekends video. But unfortunately due to Strom Bram (as well as a completely avoidable mistake that I made in relation to bus timetables which is entirely my own fault) I wasn't able to make it happen.

As I'm sure the rest of your are as well, things are so hectic for me at the moment in the run up to Christmas, but I'm going to find a day ASAP so I can get out hiking and take on St Kevins Way as planned - so you can still expect that as the very adventure vlog to come!

In the meantime, this weekend is packed full of festive gatherings for me - with my family, my craft group and my hiking friends. I'd love to see what you are all getting up to this weekend as well, whether it's something festive or an outdoor adventure! Something a little different....

I've poured a slightly ridiculous amount of passion and creativity into this video (considering its just for fun and nobody is paying me to do it 😆), so if you have 20 mins this week to give it a watch and let me know what you think, it would make me so happy 💜

I had an incredible week in Tuscany with this group, and had the silly idea to turn it into a mockumentary/reality TV style video to be able to watch back - and it actually worked!

I had a smile on my face from the moment I opened the shutters on the morning of Day 1 and saw the mountains around me.

I smiled through 700m of sometimes very steep ascent, and the complete cloud cover on the summit.
I smiled every time I turned around and saw the same view from an ever-so-slightly different perspective.

I had a smile on my face during the rain showers, and as I listened to the thunderstorm as I fell asleep on the final night.

3 jam-packed days of adventures in the Julian Alps, Slovenia - I wouldn't change a thing 💜

My first 10k Trail Race 💜

After many failed attempts over the years, I finally took up running in March this year, and it has STUCK. I have really discovered how to find joy in it, and I've been consistently running ever since, even CRAVING it at times, which is a feeling I never thought I would experience.

On that first run in March, I ran for 8 minutes straight and was already dying!
And this weekend I ran a 10k trail race with over 300m of ascent!
I finished in 1hr22m.

Running for the fun of it is my main priority; I don't have any hard-set goals about pace or race times, so I signed up to Run The Ridge just to enjoy a morning run in a gorgeous atmosphere surrounded by like-minded people.
That doesn't mean that I didn't still have an internal panic at the starting line, where my mind started racing, thinking "what if I come last?", "what if I'm the only person who has to walk the uphills?". Or when I was struggling up the hills in the heat, only halfway through, wondering why I chose to do these kinds of things voluntarily?

And yet, when I finished, all I felt was pride and happiness. And maybe while still having adrenaline coursing through my body, thinking "I should do the 20k next year" 😄

If there's one thing I want anyone to take away from this, it's that there's no one goal that you have to follow when it comes to taking up running (or any new active hobby). You don't have to be on track to a Marathon, you don't have to get faster at every race, you can choose to do it purely for the fun of it 🤸‍♀️

Who am I? Asking myself this question a lot lately 💭

I’m Erika, I live in Wicklow with my partner and my rescue dog, I'm a full-time content creator, outdoor enthusiast, and someone who’s currently deep in her “figuring-it-out” era.
I share my love for hiking, solo adventures, slow moments, and the real behind-the-scenes of trying to build a creative life that feels aligned (and not just aesthetic).

I’ve built a community online by showing up as myself - messy, curious, sometimes tired, often in hiking boots - and I’m proud of that. But lately, I’ve felt a little lost, unsure of my direction and questioning what I’m doing it all for. If that sounds familiar, maybe we’re figuring it out side by side 🤷‍♀️
