Greetings to you, warrior folk and fellow traveller of the golden path.
My name is Joshua and this channel, Atreides HEMA, is mine.
As an active HEMA instructor and practitioner I have spent a good portion of my lifespan fighting with historical weapon systems.
On this channel you can expect to see me fighting my amazing fellow club members from Wardens of the Tor along with an ever growing list of worthy opponents from clubs various.
I set up this channel as a way of show casing and analysing the videos I take while training. I hope to create a place to discuss skills, demonstrate techniques and ultimately help myself and others improve their HEMA skills. I dont claim to be the best but hope my learned skills can help people enter the HEMA community and enjoy the fight as much as I do.
I hope you enjoy my channel and that we may cross blades some day.
Long live the fighters!

Greetings to you Warrior Folk and sword nerds all!
If you reside in the UK and have five minutes today please respond to the governments newest 'great idea' to try and curb knife crime in the UK. To licence sellers of knives and blades.
www.gov.uk/government/consultations/licensing-for-…
On the face of it, may not seem aweful but as always its hasn't considered the sweeping effects.
As HEMA practitioners we are dependent on importation from Europe for our Swords. SIGI, Regenyei and others are all in Europe and have enough red tape as is. We already pay extortinate import tax and an additional licence requirement may prevent you from getting your sword or at least raise the costs higher again.
Licences for selling bladed articles will include all shopping chains selling kitchen knives, gardening tool suppliers, camping shops, chef suppliers and more importantly for us, HEMA suppliers and god forbid Matt Easton and Todd Cutler.
The government is once again trying to address knife crime but their strategy won't impact criminal knife users who, incase it had escaped your notice, do criminal things.
Thats all to say its a bad idea that will make everything more expensive and difficult if not impossible for the rest of us legitimate users of knives and blades while not touching the target audience.
So use your strong words and opinions. Raise up your voices and let us as one people tell them irrevocably.
"Stop that. It's silly."

Apologies for the pause in content warrior folks. The day after we got back from our honeymoon, a speeding driver wrote off our car in a hit and run, we are fine, but I've spent a week doing police reports, insurance claims and buying a new car.
With all that being said, I have borrowed some emotional support armour from a friend and had a chance to try on 14th century harness for the first time. It needs a lot of fitting and reshaping, but I plan to wear it to the last Templecombe reenactment.
I have a bunch of content planned for the coming months that will include a sponsored look at the design, function, and evolution of a particular historical helmet.
A closer look and dive into the history and design of my own collection of historical helmets, weapons, and armour.
A look at a sword from WW2 I recently came into contact with.
An announcement and proper advert for my own UK based HEMA event happening in July.
And, of course, my usual breakdowns of HEMA fights.
Stay tuned, and stay safe on the path.
