Picture a Scientist is a powerful documentary about female professors in STEM, sharing their stories of gender and race discrimination. Best of all, the Society of Women Engineers at MIT is hosting a FREE screening. I wanted to share this with you guys because when you picture a scientist, an engineer, a doctor, etc.. what kind of person do you picture? How does that impression affect anyone who doesn't fit it, working in the field?
No strings attached. Let's change society's impression of women in STEM. You'll get a private Vimeo link and you can watch anytime between Nov 7 and 9. Here's the form if you're interested!! forms.gle/zmD1kKu5NXVcat8UA
Been thinking about my channel a lot lately and I have some exciting ideas!
The primary goals of my channel are to 1) teach and 2) inspire. I've been trying to figure out how I do better with both.
With regards to teaching, I believe that education should be accessible to anyone with a desire to learn. As you guys know, I've been working on a beginner Python series so that everyone can have a solid foundation for the more complex tutorials in the future! I've heard feedback that many people would like to see videos of programming logic, and also full projects being built out. I hear ya. More teaching to come.. :)
However, I also want to inspire.
I want to do this by sharing my story (would you guys be interested in tech vlogs??) and sharing the stories of others who I find inspiring.
I've also realized that the most obvious thing that differentiates me from most other YouTube programmers is that I am a woman. From a young age, many girls are told that science, math, engineering is for boys, and the kitchen is for girls. I want to demonstrate that it doesn't have to be that way. I want to inspire and support anyone, with any background, who wants to learn STEM!
I've loved the support you guys have given me so far! Bear with me as I begin to experiment with my different ideas :P
Thank you guys for helping me get to 1K subs <3 Right now, I'm focusing on a beginner Python series covering the basics. What kind of content would you like to see in the future??

Sneak peek at a physics-based generative art project that I made (and will be discussing in a future video): arabesques.xyz/
(It might be a little slow because I didn't feel like paying for a higher tier of hosting)
