The Ismaili women and children of Badakhshan have started to be oppressed by the forced conversion of the expatriates of Afghanistan. Women, children and elderly are being severely tortured. Appeal from the international community and the human rights institutions from the Muslim Ummah to help the innocent. These foreigners were born only to spread riots in the world.
At Olbia City Hall on 17 January , Mayor Settimo Nizzi officially announced the airport’s new name: Olbia-Costa Smeralda-Prince Karim Aga Khan IV Airport. The recognition honours Mawlana Shah Karim’s contributions to the city and surrounding region in Sardinia, Italy.
Princess Zahra was present at the event and thanked city officials for the posthumous honour bestowed on her father.
“My father dedicated many years of his life to projects that he started in Costa Smeralda,” she said. “He deeply loved Sardinia and its people, its land, its mountains, its waters.”
“[He] also supported the creation of lasting institutions, which had a far greater impact than a simple injection of economic resources. And as always, he approached the development of the Smeralda coast as a long-term commitment with meticulous planning at every level.”
With the support and guidance of Mawlana Shah karim in the early 1960s, the region of Monti di Mola in Sardinia was transformed into La Costa Smeralda — the Emerald Coast, using local materials while preserving its natural heritage. When he first visited, it was a barren landscape with no roads or electricity.
Over the following years, a planning committee chaired by Mawlana Shah Karim helped to develop the local infrastructure to attract visitors and uplift the leisure industry in the region. A key part of this was to construct Olbia airport to facilitate access and strengthen connections with the rest of the world. Shah Karim also founded the airline Alisarda, based in Olbia in 1963, which later became Air Italy.
La Costa Smeralda grew to become a premier tourist destination, with restaurants, hotels, and sporting facilities, all while adhering to strict architectural standards. The committee stipulated that new buildings should be kept low so as to blend into the existing landscape.
Since then, the region has continued to pioneer sustainable ways to grow, switching to renewable energy, eliminating single-use plastics, and installing recycling stations. It has also experimented with solutions to sea pollution, and helped to raise awareness of the challenges facing marine life. The project is well-regarded as the first example of environmentally conscious tourism development in the Mediterranean

Aarshad recently broke the Guinness World Record for the Largest Agentic AI Hackathon (Agentic Artificial Intelligence Coding).
Aarshad executed the entire 36-hour long hackathon, serving as the official Guinness applicant and the event lead. The event began with 2,637 participants, and following rigorous evaluations and strict Guinness guidelines, 2,089 participants officially qualified, marking the record-breaking number. This achievement has received widespread recognition across the tech community.
Additionally, Aarshad was honoured at the AI Leadership Summit in Delhi in September 2025, where he: • Received the AI Leadership Award for Excellence in Artificial Intelligence • Delivered a keynote address on India’s global contributions to Artificial Intelligence • Shared the platform with leaders from multiple global industries, foreign ambassadors, UNO members, and UNESCO representatives
Aarshad is the youngest member to hold a special observatory status under the United Nations Observatory Organization, as a global consultant. He provides strategic guidance to countries and MSMEs on using Artificial Intelligence to tackle international challenges and strengthen the small business sector.

🤝 AKF is proud to partner with the Lady Fatemah Charitable Trust on a new initiative in Zanzibar that will support communities across Unguja and Pemba to grow healthier food, strengthen nutrition, and thrive in the face of a changing climate.
The project marks the first expansion of AKF's Maendeleo initiative into Zanzibar. Maendeleo – meaning ‘progress’ in Kiswahili – drives our regenerative farming approach in East Africa, rooted in organic, sustainable, and locally relevant agricultural solutions led by communities.
Across Zanzibar, many families face daily challenges around food security and nutrition. In Pemba alone, 30% of households have poor food consumption patterns and 60% rely on markets for food, leaving them vulnerable to price shocks and climate impacts.
Through this partnership, we aim to reach over 4,000 people directly and a further 15,000 indirectly by:
👩🌾 Supporting communities to adopt simple, sustainable farming techniques that protect the environment and boost local food production. 🥕 Helping families – especially women and young children – improve their diets and make healthier food choices.
Maendeleo is driven by young people from the region with a background in agriculture and trained by AKF to share practical, easy-to-learn regenerative techniques with farmers that build long-term resilience and inspire change within their communities.
💚 By working with these 'Green Champions', this initiative will enable Maendeleo to take root in Zanzibar, boosting the production of organic, healthy, and locally sourced food, meanwhile building community resilience to climate change.
