Thanks to everyone who contributed! We did not raise enough money to win, but the event overall was a big success. After all expenses, it looks like we raised $35,000 for local charities. Also, it was a lot of fun. Don't worry, we are working on some new videos too. I think I am better at those than at magic tricks!
For those who have been asking for a way to pay anonymously through paypal, an official account has been set up for the charity event. Payments can be sent to cus.got.talent@gmail.com through PayPal, and if you would like to vote please make sure to include a note of "#votes for EnergyProf". Here are the values for votes:
1 vote for $5
6 votes for $25
25 votes for $100
140 votes for $500
300 votes for $1000
Thank you all for your generosity and I hope you all enjoy tonight's live-stream. Mine will be the last act, around 8:30 PM CST.
Some people have already contributed to the charity event I will be starring in. Thank you! You can "vote" ahead of time or any time by going to this website: one.bidpal.net/cugottalent20/browse/fixedPrice(det… We are planning on live-streaming the entire CU's Got Talent talent show on Saturday night February 1st, from about 7:15pm to 8:45pm Central Standard Time (same as Chicago). My magic act is last and is predicted to start around 8:30pm. All of the donated money goes to local charities I believe in. That is the real magic -- people like you helping people in need.
We put up a video on Sound today. It features the Altgeld Bell Tower in case there are any Illinois Alums out there. I also have sad news. The woman playing "Illini Loyalty" on the bells, Susan Woods, die ldast month. She was the Chime Master of the University, even in her emeritus status. She was a friend, and always was up for a tour. She will be greatly missed. I am so glad I was able to capture her playing the device she loved, and was so devoted to. I hope you enjoy the video -- it is one of my favorites.
The poll was 3 to 1 in favor of some re-posting, so here is the next on the list. Solar Cells. From an outside observer, they are "magic". No moving parts, just put them under light and electricity comes out. This video explains how it all works. If you like it, look at the others in the solar playlist. This is the same as "The Magic in a Solar Cell" from that playlist.
We just uploaded a "new" video on how windmills work. This is a trimmed down version of an older video. Maybe its length was why there were so few views? Anyway, I hope you enjoy this one; you'll learn about how windmills are built, what determines the power they can produce, and how they actually work. Do you like this idea of bringing up more gems from the vault, until we make brand new content? Let us know!
We changed the "Featured Video" to something you may want to learn more about: The Electric Grid. We plan to do this once a week or so until we can get brand-new content created. I apologize if you have already seen this, but some of the videos in the "Electricity" playlist have very few views, so maybe you haven't gotten the chance to see them yet. It is very interesting and relevant.
