The Awards Contender

My name is Brian Rowe, and I'm here to explore the extraordinary world of all things Oscar.

I've been obsessed with the Academy Awards since I was nine years old and watched my hero Steven Spielberg clean house at the 1994 ceremony with his back-to-back masterpieces Jurassic Park and Schindler's List. I started studying the history of the Oscars soon thereafter and have been fascinated by all the winners, nominees, no-shows, and controversies ever since.

I hold a BA in Film Production, MA in English, and MFA in Creative Writing, and what I try to bring to my videos is a mix of well-researched analysis and entertaining commentary that bring a new level of insight to you, the viewer. It doesn't matter if you're an Academy Awards expert or simply interested in cinema, I guarantee you'll find something that interests you.

Eva Marie Saint has left us at the age of 102. She was our oldest living Oscar winner, taking the gold trophy for Best Supporting Actress in 1955 for her feature film debut, On the Waterfront. Also superb in North by Northwest, Saint was a cinema icon who will never be forgotten.
