If you could give a Lion a voice, what stories would they tell? 🦁

‘The Bastard King’ is Terra Mater Studios' answer to this question. Shot over ten years by visionary filmmaker Owen Prümm, this film tells a shakespearian story of exile, tragedy, war and hope in the Lion kingdoms.

The film tells the story of the Bastard King, a lion born to a forbidden union between two Prides at war. With enemies everywhere, how can this lion survive and claim his position as rightful prince? How can he prepare his species for the change on the horizon!

‘The Bastard King’ is a clarion call for help that resonates with racial disharmony and environmental impact beyond any single individual’s ability to grasp and solve.

🌍Hot and Cold: Life at The Limits of our planet!🌋❄️

In the rainforests of Sumatra, orangutans begin their day foraging before retreating to shady nests as the midday heat sets in. Meanwhile, on the fiery slopes of Tavurvur volcano, birds gather to lay their eggs in the warmth of the ash, letting the Earth itself incubate their young.

❄️ Far to the north, in the frozen Yukon, a single flowing river defies the Arctic winter. Chum salmon travel thousands of kilometers to spawn here, attracting grizzlies that brave subzero temperatures to fatten up for the long winter ahead.

📺 This Thursday, these extraordinary stories of survival and adaptation premiere on the Terra Mater YouTube Channel!

In this making-of video from Wild Canada – The Eternal Frontier, the crew sets out to film wildlife underwater in the icy waters off Newfoundland and the high Arctic. Using topside high-speed cameras and a team goes filming underwater led by legendary diver Didier Noirot, they faced fog, freezing temps, and murky waters filled with millions of capelin — the primary food of humpback whales.

Will they get the perfect conditions they need to film the whales? And what other secrets does the ocean floor hold for them?
