ঈদুল আযহায় পশু কোরবানি ফরজ বা ওয়াজিব করার মূল কারণ হলো—ত্যাগ ও আল্লাহর প্রতি পূর্ণ আনুগত্য প্রকাশ করা। এর পেছনে ইতিহাস ও ধর্মীয় গুরুত্ব আছে:
1. *ইব্রাহিম (আ.)-এর ত্যাগের স্মৃতি:* আল্লাহর আদেশে তিনি নিজ পুত্র ইসমাইল (আ.)-কে কোরবানি দিতে প্রস্তুত হন। আল্লাহ তাঁর এই আনুগত্য দেখে ইসমাইল (আ.)-এর বদলে একটি দুম্বা পাঠান। এই ঘটনার স্মরণে কোরবানি করা হয়।
2. *আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টি অর্জন:* কোরবানি একটি ইবাদত। এটি আল্লাহর জন্য করা হয়, যাতে তাঁর সন্তুষ্টি পাওয়া যায়।
3. *ন্যায্য বণ্টন ও সমাজে সমতা:* কোরবানির মাংস গরিব-অসহায়দের মাঝে বণ্টন করা হয়, যাতে সবাই ঈদের আনন্দে শরিক হতে পারে।
4. *মানবিকতা ও ত্যাগের শিক্ষা:* কোরবানি আমাদের শেখায় – দুনিয়ার জিনিসের প্রতি আসক্ত না হয়ে আল্লাহর রাস্তায় ত্যাগ করতে।
সুতরাং, কোরবানি কোনো সাধারণ প্রাণী হত্যা নয়, এটি আত্মত্যাগ, আনুগত্য, ভ্রাতৃত্ব ও মানবিকতার এক মহান শিক্ষা।
