Hello, My name is Gentil and I'm just an ordinary bloke, fiddling with cars, driving them and enjoying the pleasures of motoring... even when it goes wrong! #ford #fordfocus #bmw #bmw5series #bmw5 #tesla
With the offside done today, That's all the outside welding done. It's rock solid and all brushed, but only ground back where needed. Floors are next, but I might get a pro to do that as It's getting hard to find spare time to do welding. #bmw But
Seriously looking at painting my car in BMW's Inka. The original colour (Castan) isn't a standard BMW AG colour and solely used in south africa for the 2004 SA (Glas derived cars) and early E12's. Frankly, I never loved it and getting scanned and matched is expensive. For the same price I can get many spray cans off the shelf. Not obsessed with originality but focus on being practical. The 20 yr old respray is peeling everywhere so a slight colour change feels right, but on the exterior only, not engine bay. Outside SA, many Inka E12's were sold and it does suit the E12 nicely.
I know, they look awful but are rock solid. Bad earth issues caused a lot of splatter no matter how much I adjusted the settings. In the end, welded a new plate to both panels and put the earth clamp which provided better results. Used a borescope camera and no pin holes and good penetration.
July 1991 I saw this very car in my dad's garage for the first time and it was the only car my dad bought new. Coming from a 1974 Audi 100 that was giving all sorts of trouble, the Rover felt very modern and refined. I was very proud too as Rover was seen in Portugal as a more prestigious and premium car compared to other mainstream brands. Sadly the car was gone in 2013 (date of the above picture) after my dad's passibg in 2012. The car fell in disrepair when he was diagnosed with Alzheimers a few years earlier. #rover#britishcars#tbt#throwbackthursday#1990s
Unfortunately, no Rustival for me in September. In fact, no more car shows this year. Work on the E12 progressing very slowly and I haven't had as much time as I wanted to work in it. Also, family event that day and too tight to attend both due to distance. Here's an update. Link to this video on my second channel here:
Since I started cutting the rust from the E12 back in April, I haven't had much chance to do much work on this car, but progress was made. Video update on Thursday on my second channel, Gentil's Garage Extension:
A fantastic day at Goodwood Festival of speed, where i saw great cars and had the pleasure to meet Christian von Koenigsegg, the creator of the fabulous Koenigsegg supercars. Thanks to my lovely wife who got me today's event as a birthday present for the 3rd year running #goodwood#festivalofspeed#koenigsegg#carshow

Holiday reading. Bought this book months ago and never got round to read it.
I have been a big fan of the R8 since my dad bought 1 in '91.
