On Friday, the gearbox started making a whining noise and gears occasionally became a bit hard to shift, so I needed time to diagnose what was wrong. Maybe low oil level judging by the leak at the bottom, so today I removed the plastic cover, removed the filler plug and topped up with Ford's gearbox oil until it dripped, which was under 500ml. Gear change improved and the whining noise has gone apart from when 1st and 2nd are engaged, but much quieter than before and heard only with the windows down. Let's see how it goes, but it looks like the problem is (apparently) fixed for now.

Petrol prices are up and it looks like they are staying high for the foreseeable future.
During my spare time, I made an excel spreadsheet to see if there is a benefit for me to switch to an electric car.
In short, yes, but not yet.
I will be making a video about it later this month

13 years ago today, I sold the '83 BMW 323i E30 I bought back in April 2007 on ebay for just £170.
In April 2010 I thought it would be a good idea to a full restoration and that's what really kickstarted my youtube channel. It later proved to be a huge mistake that ruined me mentally and financially and the project never finished. Sold the ready to paint shell to a MINI "body in white" engineer and never heard about the car again.

I jumped on the bandwagon of using @lewishamilton fabulous photoshoot with his even more fabulous @ferrari F40, and decided to make my own. Because I refuse to use AI, I just did a cut and paste of my Focus MK2 and plaster it on top of the F40. No water was wasted in the making of this pic.

Hi all,

Video making and publishing on my main channel and second channel has been slow in recent months, mainly due to personal life and the consequent lack of time to work on cars and make videos.
Although I don't foresee a change to the current situation anytime soon, I will still be making and publishing videos at least once every two months. Some videos will be more focused on car related matters and fewer will be about repairs.

The target at the beginning of the year was to make one to two videos a month but a few months ago this has become hard to achieve.

There are absolutely no intentions of stopping or giving up, but for the time being I have no choice but to keep the current reduced video making and publishing frequency.

I am very grateful for your continued support and hope you understand.

With the offside done today, That's all the outside welding done. It's rock solid and all brushed, but only ground back where needed. Floors are next, but I might get a pro to do that as It's getting hard to find spare time to do welding.

Seriously looking at painting my car in BMW's Inka. The original colour (Castan) isn't a standard BMW AG colour and solely used in south africa for the 2004 SA (Glas derived cars) and early E12's. Frankly, I never loved it and getting scanned and matched is expensive. For the same price I can get many spray cans off the shelf. Not obsessed with originality but focus on being practical. The 20 yr old respray is peeling everywhere so a slight colour change feels right, but on the exterior only, not engine bay. Outside SA, many Inka E12's were sold and it does suit the E12 nicely.
