The New England Patriots are trading four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Matthew Judon to the Atlanta Falcons, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. Per the report, the Falcons are sending a third-round draft pick to New England in return. Judon has been on the trade block amid a contract stalemate and drawn interest from multiple teams, according to reports. Wednesday's trade resolves the situation in New England as the Falcons add a significant upgrade to their pass rush. Judon, 31, made the Pro Bowl in four consecutive seasons from 2019-22. He missed all but four games last season after suffering a biceps injury that required surgery. In his last healthy season in 2022, Judon tallied 15.5 sacks, 60 tackles (14 for loss), 28 quarterback hits, three passes defended, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery as one of the most disruptive pass rushers in the NFL. He tallied six sacks or more in each of his Pro Bowl seasons, including 12.5 in 2021.

Sportico released franchise valuations for the top 10 NFL teams Tuesday, and the Cowboys were head and shoulders atop the list with a value of $10.32 billion. They became the first sports franchise to surpass the $10 billion valuation. Forbes valued the Cowboys at $9 billion in September.
The Los Angeles Rams ($7.79 billion) ranked second on the list by Sportico, followed by the New York Giants ($7.65 billion), New England Patriots ($7.31 billion) and San Francisco 49ers ($6.86 billion).
AFC East rivals the New York Jets ($6.8 billion) and Miami Dolphins ($6.76 billion) ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, on the list. The final two NFC East representatives, the Philadelphia Eagles ($6.75 billion) and Washington Commanders ($6.3 billion) are listed eighth and 10th, respectively, sandwiched around the Las Vegas Raiders ($6.7 billion).
Per Sportico, the 32 NFL franchises collectively are worth $190 billion, including team-related businesses and real estate held by the owners.

Coach Kevin O'Connell has announced that quarterback J.J. McCarthy will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.
The threshold question is whether he'll have the meniscus trimmed or repaired. As to the former, the player can come back quickly. As to the latter, he could miss several months.
The other side of the coin is that a repair maximizes the amount of cartilage in the knee. A trim reduces the cushioning, setting the stage for a potential bone-on-bone situation.
The smart long-term play arguably would be to have the meniscus repaired. That would mean Sam Darnold will be the guy for 2024. With Jaren Hall as the backup. And with McCarthy potentially available in November, or thereabouts.
