The former Pro Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Kolhan University, Prof. Banerjee has led an extraordinary career as a Commonwealth and Fulbright Scholar, academic administrator, and cultural ambassador of India. Her multifaceted work has illuminated the worlds of literature, music, and higher learning for over three decades.

In this special episode, we celebrate her powerful new poetry collection, The Red Woman - a deeply moving exploration of the feminine spirit, resilience, and voice. Through these poems, Prof. Banerjee gives form to the silenced histories of women, drawing from the lived experiences of generations who have endured, risen, and transformed their pain into power.

Writers Capital International Foundation proudly presents an inspiring conversation with Rochelle Potkar - award-winning fictionist, poet, screenwriter, and creative-writing mentor, whose words transcend form and language.

An alumna of the Iowa International Writing Program and a Charles Wallace Writer’s Fellow, Rochelle has carved a distinct space in global literature through her books Four Degrees of Separation, Paper Asylum (shortlisted for the Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2020), Bombay Hangovers (also in Hindi), Coins in Rivers (shortlisted for The Wise Owl Literary Award 2025), and her latest, The D’Costa Family, a darkly humorous novel of human paradoxes.

Her poetry film Skirt was featured on Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland, and her screenplays - including A Brown Coat, Catharsis, Salad, and Ali Guli Mane - have received international recognition. She was also conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Literature by Sanskriti University, Mathura, presented by the former President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind.

In this episode, hosted by Prof. Irene Doura Kavadia, Rochelle reflects on her creative odyssey - from poetry to film, from intimate stories to universal ideas — exploring what it means to live and write in a world of shifting forms.
