Moondoe's Homestead Adventures

I left the comfort zone to build something real โ€” a legacy from scratch.
Now Iโ€™m documenting the journey of creating a DIY homestead in rural Mexico ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ
Chickens, compost, gardens, grit โ€” no fluff, no blueprints, just raw builds and the purpose of showing that anyone, even you, can achieve this kind of life. Let's build together!

If youโ€™re ready to learn, laugh, and level up your life, youโ€™re in the right place.

Moondoe's Homestead Adventures

๐Ÿ…๐Ÿซ›๐Ÿง… One bed. Three crops. Countless lessons.

The tomatoes are ripening... The peas won't stop climbing... The onions are coming along nicely...

Every time we step into the garden, there's something new to appreciate.

It's not perfect, but it's oursโ€”and it's growing stronger every day. ๐ŸŒฑ

๐Ÿซ› THE PEAS ARE PEAIN'!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒฑ
These things are growing like crazy!
It feels like every time we walk into the garden they've climbed a little higher.
Watching something go from a tiny seed to a thriving plant never gets old. That's one of the best parts of gardeningโ€”you get to witness the progress every single day.
Now we're just waiting for these vines to start loading up with fresh peas!
We'll keep you updated as they grow. ๐ŸŒฟ
How are your peas doing this season?

๐Ÿ… IT'S HAPPENING!

We've officially got tomatoes starting to ripen! ๐ŸŒฟ
One gardening tip that's worked really well for us...

I usually harvest my tomatoes when they reach the breaker stageโ€”when they're about halfway from green to red.

At that point, they'll continue ripening indoors, which helps reduce the chances of pests, birds, cracking, or disease getting to them before I do.

Plus... it means we get to enjoy our first homegrown tomatoes just a little sooner. ๐Ÿ˜„
It's amazing seeing all the work finally paying off.

How do you harvest your tomatoes? Do you wait until they're fully vine-ripened or pick them at the breaker stage?

๐Ÿฅ”๐ŸŒฑ THIS POTATO PLANT IS GROWING LIKE CRAZY!

It feels like we just showed yโ€™all the first little sprout, and now itโ€™s already spreading out and putting on a ton of new growth.

Weโ€™ve added another layer of compost around the plant to keep feeding it and continue building up the potato tower as it grows.

Now the big experiment really starts:

Can we turn this one small space into pounds of homegrown potatoes?

Weโ€™ll keep documenting every stage all the way through harvest, so make sure youโ€™re following along. This little plant has places to be apparently. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฅ”

Moondoe's Homestead Adventures

Not every day on the homestead is an easy one.
One of our new pullets took a pretty rough beating during flock integration.

I cleaned the wound, got her separated somewhere quiet and safe, and now we'll keep a close eye on her while she heals.

Sometimes chickens remind you that the pecking order isn't just a saying... it can get rough.

At this point, we're seriously considering culling our bully hen. Our job is to protect the entire flock, not let one bird constantly stress or injure the others.

It's never a fun decision, but that's part of raising animals responsibly.

Life on the homestead isn't always picture-perfect... but we'll always show you the good, the bad, and everything in between.

Have you ever had to deal with a bully hen? What ended up working for you?

๐ŸŒฟ Fresh parsley straight from the garden.

Morning harvests like this never get old.

Now I'm thinking... maybe it's time to make another batch of homemade seasoning powder. ๐Ÿ‘€

We've already had some success with parsley, and now we're ready to experiment with a few new blends.

๐Ÿ‘‡ Help us decide!

What's going in the grinder next?

Weโ€™re starting something new ๐ŸŒฑ

Iโ€™ve been wanting to build more useful resources for people trying to grow food, get organized, and take small steps toward a more self-sufficient life.

So we made our first free download:

The FREE Homestead Garden Planner.

It includes:

๐ŸŒฑ Garden planning pages
๐ŸŒฑ Seed inventory tracker
๐ŸŒฑ Seed starting tracker
๐ŸŒฑ Garden layout grids
๐ŸŒฑ Harvest tracking
๐ŸŒฑ Expense tracking
๐ŸŒฑ Garden savings calculator

Nothing complicated. Just a simple printable tool to help you plan better, track what youโ€™re growing, and actually see the progress youโ€™re making.

This is just the beginning too. Weโ€™ve got more garden resources, guides, build plans, and homestead tools coming down the road.

If you want the free planner and want to be first in line for what we start releasing next, sign up here:

๐Ÿฅ” Growing more food in less space.

That's the goal.

We just finished building our DIY potato tower and we're excited to see how it performs.

One thing we've learned on this journey is that you don't need a huge homestead to start producing food. Sometimes all it takes is a little creativity and a willingness to try something new.

Now let's see if we can turn this tower into a pile of homegrown potatoes. ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿฅ”

๐ŸŒฟ Our parsley has officially gone crazy. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I think it's about time to fire up the dehydrator and make another batch of homemade seasoning powder.

There's something special about planting a seed, watching it grow, harvesting it, drying it, grinding it, and then putting it on your dinner plate.

Now the important question...

What should we mix with the parsley next? ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿง… Onion ๐Ÿง„ Garlic ๐ŸŒฟ Oregano ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Peppers

Or something completely different?

Drop your guesses below before we reveal it! ๐Ÿ‘‡
Will it be for the: ๐Ÿ” Chickens? ๐ŸŒฑ Garden? ๐Ÿง… Seed saving? ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Something completely different?
Nobody gets extra points for cheating. ๐Ÿ˜‚
Let's see who can figure it out first.
