CyberKewl's Retro Tech

My latest video is now up! It's a review of the retail version of the MANGMI Air Y Pro 8GB, feel free to check it out!

I'll be going through the specs, do a device tour, talk about the ergonomics, software, video out demo, ghosting test, speakers, emulation showcase, battery life & total system power draw, what I like and what could have been better and finally the verdict.

On the video itself - I do want to apologize for the out of sync audio on some parts of the video - I was struggling with editing and was trying a new technique (to do the video first, then add in the audio later and it was really tricky to get it right).

Also apologies on the switch emulation on Contra Operation Galuga - during editing I didn't realise that the video was incorrectly scaled but it should only be for that game, the rest of the footage should be good though!

I hope you like this video as it took me a really long time to edit, 2 full days to get the script + editing done - the longest video that I took to "produce", trying out new techniques and elements for the video. I'm still learning but I hope the video turned out alright!

Feel free to share your thoughts and comments! Thanks!

Hi Guys,

Feel free to check out this short video on the ghosting on the Mangmi Air Y VS my Konkr Pocket Fit.

On my phone camera (S24 Ultra) - using slow-motion, FHD 240 FPS.

My testing methodology is simple - using this site (default settings, unchanged): testufo.com/

Not sure if that's the correct way - so appreciate if anyone can comment if i'm doing it right (or wrong).

My observations:
- Air Y clip goes up till about 25 seconds, then the rest is Konkr Pocket Fit
- The Air Y has more ghosting compared to the Konkr Pocket Fit
- I can see up to "3" ufo's on 60 FPS on the Air Y
- I can only see up to "2" ufo's on 60 FPS on the Konkr Pocket Fit

Is this bad? To my eyes, I can't really tell to be honest when I play games.

I tried same test on my OLED Mangmi Pocket Max - obviously its oled - near instant response time - you always see only 1 UFO (not shown in video).

Do comment your thoughts, and if this is considered bad, or acceptable? I dont have the Pocket Air Mini to compare, so if someone could run the same test on the same site with a 240 FPS slow-motion that'll be great (or have seen the same footage but on pocket air mini) - please share and comment.

My full review of the Mangmi Air Y will be coming soon in a couple of days as I daily drive this.

Hi guys,

I just dropped my Retail Mangmi Air Y Pro 8GB Unboxing & First Impressions video, but before you watch it please accept my apologies in advance for the wobbly/shaky footage during the unboxing and poor lighting (wrong camera settings) as I was rushing to get this out as soon as possible for everyone to see what to expect in the retail packaging of the Mangmi Air Y Pro.

Please do stick around as you will find in this video, I managed to cover certain things that are not covered/found in other videos or reviews (even though this is just an unboxing an first impressions video).

Hope you enjoy the video!

My latest video - "Just Get A (Mini) Steam Deck Bro!" (a play on the popular steam deck meme) just dropped.

With handheld PC prices climbing due to high RAM and storage costs, this video will give you an overview of this (somewhat new) steamOS distribution for ARM handhelds and what you can expect out of it, including an overview of the "steamOS" interface itself. Watch this video to get an idea!

My new video on What's new in GammaOS 1.4.1 for the RG Rotate is now out! Check it out!

I tried to keep it as short as possible but still give you a good understanding on what to expect, and what's new. Let me know your thoughts on the video. I tried to be a bit creative with the release notes and put a summarized version (mostly) in a slide form and showing it off in a tablet screen instead of showing it straight from a release notes page.

I hope you liked it - do sound off in the comments if you have any thoughts or suggestions! Hope you liked the video and learnt something.

The Mangmi Air Y & Air Y Pro is now up for order! Today marks the first day of the Early bird special. A recent firmware update for the early reviewers have mostly resolved the ghosting issues to the point its non existent and not obvious to the naked eye.

To recap - prices are:
Air Y - Early bird (Snapdragon 662 - 3GB+32GB eMMC) - $89.99 / Regular -$ 94.99
Air Y Pro - Early bird - 4GB+64GB UFS 2.1 (Snapdragon 865) - $145.99 / Regular - $159.99
Air Y Pro - Early bird - 8GB+128GB UFS 3.1 (Snapdragon 865) - $175.99 / Regular $189.99

Early bird Promo Period - Aug 12 7PM PDT to Aug 15 7PM PDT. Don't miss it!

If you're planning to get the Air Y Pro - I strongly suggest the Air Y Pro 8GB model - for an extra $30 you get 4GB+64GB (with UFS 3.1) extra - well worth the price in today's high storage & RAM prices economy!

My "GammaOS 1.4 (Nano & Next) on RG Rotate: What You Need to Know" video is now out.

I've put together a (fairly) comprehensive walkthrough of GammaOS 1.4 for the Anbernic RG Rotate, covering both the GammaOS Nano (micro-OS) and full (fat android) GammaOS Next.

Instead of just a basic overview, I will go through everything you need to know, give you some tips, quirks and some of the key settings in GammaOS. I recommend going through my video before doing the installation so you get an idea of what you need to know.

This video turned out longer than expected (sorry about that), but I’ve included timestamps so you can skip directly to whatever section you need. Hope it helps anyone on the fence of switching and I hope you enjoy the video - it took me a long time to not only shoot the video, but to prepare what I wanted to go through.

Do check the video out if you're interested to know more on GammaOS on the RG Rotate!
