Update 2.0 looks like one of the biggest steps forward the game has had yet, with an A-Life rework, performance improvements, visual upgrades, and a bunch of fixes. Cost of Hope also gives returning players something new to jump into.
I still would not call it perfect, but this might be the best time yet to finally play it.
The game definitely borrows some Souls-style ideas, but dodging and basic attacks don’t drain its Sha-Chi meter, and its world is built around eight interconnected areas rather than being fully open or completely linear.
What matters most when YOU call something a Soulslike?
Combat/stamina systems Difficulty World/checkpoint structure It’s more of an overall vibe
For this particular topic, I actually like the Threads post almost as much as the Short because the whole story naturally invites people to argue over what “Soulslike” even means.
Beast of Reincarnation has been out less than two weeks and Game Freak is already making changes based on player feedback.
The interesting part is that this doesn't seem like a game where nothing worked. It feels more like they got close, but didn't completely stick the landing.
For those who've played it:
Do you think Game Freak can turn Beast around with updates?
I didn’t play the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag back in the day, so getting to try Black Flag Resynced early is pretty exciting.
Big thanks to Ubisoft for hooking me up with early access. I’ve heard for years how much people love this one, so I’m ready to finally see what the hype was about.
PlayStation going digital-only in 2028 sounds like a story about discs, but I think it is bigger than that.
This is about used games, resale, lending, retailer competition, digital ownership, and how much control players actually have over the games they pay for.
New WHY Series video is up. Black Flag Resynced gets a July 9th release date. Thirteen years after the original. And honestly, the game looks good. The team put real care into it. But while Ubisoft was building this remake, they also cancelled three original IP projects. Three new ideas nobody had ever played. Gone. This video isn't really about Black Flag. It's about what the decision to make Black Flag instead of something new says about where Ubisoft actually is right now. And whether this retreat to the past is a reset or just the most beloved thing they had left to offer. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/oQ0NEWSjFi0 Drop your thoughts below. Do you think Ubisoft is making the right call?

Is Phantom Blade Zero really a Soulslike?

One of my favorite things about indie success is when it creates opportunities for more indie games.
Phasmophobia becoming successful enough that Kinetic can now help publish other developers is just cool.
One weird game succeeds → helps fund the next weird game.
I'll take more of that.

In a creature-collecting game, what usually decides which creatures actually make your team?
