The history behind the building that houses McGinty Motorcars is as classic and timeless as the inventory we carry. It was erected in 1910 by the City of Reading as a Horse Drawn Trolley Depot. When the electric trolleys came to Reading the building was sold and converted into The Oldsmobile Company of Reading which operated from 1921-1945. Various other businesses took residence at this location through the years. We are blessed to be a part of its legacy.

We have tried to share stories of fraud, impersonation and scams when buying cars so no one gives out their personal info or life savings to someone who is a criminal. We try to be so transparent, so our customers nationwide and worldwide feel comfortable buying from us and know we are real people running a legitimate business. We never imagined we would become a target, but we have and are bringing awareness. This criminal or criminals set up a fake Facebook page and used our actual content. They also were in contact with someone in VA and that’s only one we know of. They sent fake AI images and also set up an elaborate website using our business name with a .site domain. It has our cars on with our pics and the only difference is they have removed our first photo with Pat’s number and our dealer info. They have put their number starting 731- all over the website. Our stock numbers were also changed slightly but unless you know what ours looked like it would be convincing enough. They even embedded our tv commercial on their site. This person or people does pick up the phone oddly enough. The text messages were sent from a number beginning in 701. We reported all this to Facebook and Google the police, FTC, PA Attorney General and have contacted our state rep. If you have a business be vigilant and if you are a consumer please be careful. Trust your instincts. Pat will never stand behind text messages, emails, or use any other number besides those listed below. We don’t have a sales staff so he would be the only one contacting anyone. When in doubt come to our physical location located at 1041 Washington St, Reading, PA 19601. It’s our only location and where our cars are housed. If ever you are in a situation where you are buying a vehicle out of state, ask the person to do a video call with the car you are looking to buy and maybe even have them show you the vin number on the car. Sad, we live in this kind of world, but we do.
