Then "Living Funeral (活人葬礼 / Huó Rén Zànglǐ)" was written for you.


Written by Ava Trierveiler, "Living Funeral" is more than a song. It's an open letter.
A poetic reflection on the invisible grief carried by so many LGBTQ+ people who grow up believing they must choose between being loved and being themselves.

It tells the story of someone who is never abandoned by their family, yet slowly loses their identity trying to become the person everyone expects them to be.

At its heart is one painful question:
Can it still be called love if it asks someone to disappear?

Musically, "Living Funeral" blends traditional Chinese instruments with vocal techniques inspired by the haunting folk songs of China's mountain regions. We wanted every note—not just every lyric—to carry sorrow, vulnerability, hope, and the quiet resilience of those who continue searching for a place where they can simply exist as themselves.

Since its release, we've been deeply humbled by the messages we've received from people who saw their own lives reflected in this song. Thank you for trusting us with your stories.

To everyone who has ever felt invisible, rejected, or silenced:

You are seen. You are not alone.

And to every parent who may hear this song...

We hope it gently lifts the veil from your eyes.

Not through anger.

Not through blame.

Our dream was never simply to create a beautiful song.
It was to give a voice to those who never felt they had one.


To remind someone that their life has value.
To help a parent understand the pain they may have never seen.

And, if we're incredibly fortunate...
To save even one life.

If it helps one family choose compassion over fear...

If it starts one conversation that otherwise would never happen...

Then "Living Funeral" has already fulfilled the reason it was written.
