Last summer, the Capital Region of New York State hosted the cast and crew of HBO's THE GILDED AGE as they filmed their third season. We dropped in now and then to check out the action, and we were lucky enough to spot some of the stars either arriving on set, on breaks, or actually filming(!!). We also got to see lots of background actors with all their varied sumptuous costumes - such a treat! And tonight we'll get to see the first episode of the season. We can't wait to see the finished product ... and find out what happens on the show! Check out our 2024 videos for lots more GILDED AGE Season 3 content! 🎩

From the Film Trail vault: Back in 2014, we traveled to Paris on vacation and criss-crossed the city to see as many sights as possible, including most of the filming locations from the 2001 classic AMÉLIE (aka LE FABULEUX DESTIN D'AMÉLIE POULAIN), starring Audrey Tautou and directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. We visited the Café des Deux Moulins, where Amélie works; the market known as Maison Collignon in the film (where we bought a French film poster!); the Canal St. Martin, where Amélie skips stones on the water; the Montmartre street where she and Nino ride on the motorbike at the end of the film; Sacré-Coeur and the carousel; and so much more - we couldn't fit everything into this post! ALOTO Filming Location: Chapman's Beauty Salon | Back in August 2021, we were in western PA on vacation during the filming of the Amazon TV series A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, and we got to see several of the dressed-up sets -- including Chapman's Beauty Salon, which had the signage from the show. This building is located in Ambridge, PA, which was used for several of the locations in the series.

The Cast of THE GILDED AGE at PaleyFest 2022 | In October 2022, we headed into NYC to attend a GILDED AGE panel at the Paley Center, featuring a screening of the Season 2 finale and a Q&A with the cast. All were delightful, and the conversation covered everything from costumes to important social issues that arise in the show. From left to right: Christine Baranski, Denée Benton, Louisa Jacobson, Morgan Spector, Cynthia Nixon, Carrie Coon.

(There was a cultural parade going on that day, and streets were closed off all around the building, so we were afraid we wouldn't get there on time ... Little did we know that Christine Baranski herself would be late because of the snarled traffic, delaying the start of the event! 😳)

GOONIES never say die! In 2016, on a trip to Oregon, we drove out to Cannon Beach and Astoria to see iconic filming locations from The Goonies. One of the best was this view of the beach (with car!).

We were on vacation in western PA on the morning when the trailer for the Amazon series "A League of Their Own" was released, and we had already booked a tour of Carrie Furnace for later that day because it's such a cool site on its own. We could tell that this shot had been filmed at the blast furnace, so while the tour went on ahead we lingered a moment to get a photo.
