Tales Of producer, Tomizawa, has stated in a 30th anniversary broadcast that older Tales games will be coming in 2026, and has repeated that remasters are released as and when they're finished (which is why the more recent games have been coming out first).
Tomizawa also mentioned back in October that a challenge with the older games is finding the source code, as they're often archived poorly or spread across several studios.
This isn't surprising, even FF Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles had to be completely recreated because of missing source code, game preservation wasn't a major concern back in the 90s.
As for the new Tales game, it's in development but not ready to be shared.
Now that I'm done gaming for the year, it's time for the year end stuff. And we're getting the stuff that disappointed me out the way first, thankfully not many, but still a handful.
That's it, done with Octopath Traveler 0, and that's the last game I'll play this year. What a way to end it too, the game is fantastic. Videos will still come out, but I'll be taking a break on games till 2026.
Watching Clair Obscur win multiple accolades at the Game Awards was great.
Watching Twitter have a meltdown because of it was just as great.
As far as I'm concerned, all the praise is deserved.
This was a game that was made by JRPG fans who knew exactly what makes the genre special, while also putting their own spin on it. Everything I value in a JRPG is at an extremely high level in Clair Obscur, and spoilers, it will be very high on my best RPG list come the end of the year.
But then there's the thankless stuff that people so often don't even look at. It had no season pass, it was £40 on release by choice of the developer, no cash grabs, heck they even put out some free DLC today. And all that on a budget less than 10 million dollars (as reported quite recently).
And when it all came to a head with it's award of Game of the Year? CEO Guillaume Broche thanked his biggest influence in Hironobu Sakaguchi for inspiring him to become a developer in the first place. That shows humility and grounding that's sorely lacking in this day and age.
Broche and Sandfall as a whole are gems of the industry, and they fully deserve all the praise they get.

Last news video of the year, they'll return at the end of January.

Some have asked why Varlet wasn't on my disappointing list for 2025.
Simple, I refused to play it. From trailers alone the likelihood was that it was going to be crap.

Octopath Traveler 0 may be one of the last JRPGs of 2025, but it's easily one of the best. Outstanding game.
