3 random things that helped my health anxiety. We are all a bit different and sometimes finding your own approach can really work well. These are 3 things that worked surprisingly well for me and they weren’t the things I found in self help books or things my therapists told me to do.
This is the sort of thing I like to explore with my own clients. It’s about finding you what works for YOU. We all have different brains that respond differently.
Do you like any of these ideas? Which one might you try?? 👆
Recovery isn’t about finally getting enough reassurance. It’s about learning that you don’t always need it. 🫶🏽
If health anxiety is taking up far too much of your life, this is exactly the kind of work I support people with. I offer 1:1 Zoom sessions and more immediate support through texting sessions, and my next Health Anxiety Recovery Workshop is on Sunday 30th August, 6–8pm UK time. As both a health anxiety expert and someone who has personally recovered from it, everything I teach comes from professional experience alongside genuinely understanding what it feels like to be stuck in this cycle. 🤍
There’s nothing worse than being hit with a new symptom. Just when you’re feeling okay, your body decides to throw something else at you. And it’s so hard to not panic especially when it’s a symptom you’ve never ever experienced. This is how we get stuck in the vicious cycle that is health anxiety. 🌀
Can you relate to this?

I’m able to relax now, finally. But it wasn’t like this for a very long time. For years I couldn’t cope. For years I believed every catastrophic thought my brain conjured up. It was hell. And anyone who has been through the same will agree that it’s a living nightmare. You can’t relax. People will you to but it’s not that simple. You can’t just snap yourself out of it. You’re living in fear and your nervous system is completely dysregulated.
Hi everyone! It’s the 1st of August which means my August appointments are officially OPEN to book. Want to work with me?? Then grab your spot with me this month by going to my website >> www.cherellethinks.co.uk ✅
I work with people worldwide since I work through Zoom. My website converts to your own time zone so you don’t have to figure it out. I look forward to maybe seeing some new faces in August!
What do I help people with during these sessions;
* Understanding what health anxiety actually is and why it develops * Breaking the vicious cycle of health anxiety * Reducing reassurance seeking (Google, AI, doctors, family, checking) * Learning to tolerate uncertainty rather than trying to eliminate it * Understanding why physical symptoms caused by anxiety feel so real * Identifying and reducing safety behaviours that keep anxiety going * Responding differently to intrusive health thoughts * Working through the fear of serious illnesses (cancer, neurological conditions, heart disease, etc.) * Understanding cardiophobia and anxiety-related heart symptoms * Understanding benign muscle twitching and other common anxiety symptoms * Learning when medical reassurance is appropriate and when it becomes unhelpful * Building confidence in the body’s ability to cope with uncertainty * Reducing body scanning and hypervigilance * Understanding the role of the nervous system in physical symptoms * Challenging catastrophic thinking without false reassurance * Using ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) techniques to change your relationship with anxiety * Developing healthier responses to uncertainty rather than chasing certainty * Creating personalised strategies for setbacks and relapses * Gradually returning to activities anxiety has taken away * Rebuilding trust in yourself and your body * Helping you live a fuller life even when anxiety is present * Creating a plan so health anxiety no longer runs your life
