3 important tips for health anxiety sufferers.. 💡
I want to make it clear first and foremost that I know it’s really hard to break old habits. I lived in fight or flight for the longest time so making these changes took some time and it certainly wasn’t an overnight thing. I had to really get out of my comfort zone in order to get better and my healing journey certainly wasn’t linear. It was very up and down and that’s okay.

I know this can feel so frustrating because reassurance genuinely feels like it’s helping in the moment. I used to believe that if I could just get one more answer, one more scan, or one more person to tell me I was okay, I’d finally be able to relax.
But what I didn’t realise was that every time I sought reassurance, I was accidentally teaching my brain that there really was something dangerous to worry about. Instead of learning, “I’m okay,” my brain learnt, “I needed reassurance to feel safe.”

That’s why the relief never lasts. The anxiety comes back, often stronger, because your brain never gets the chance to discover that you can cope with uncertainty without checking or seeking certainty.
Recovery isn’t about proving you’re healthy 24/7. It’s about teaching your brain that you don’t need reassurance to be safe. 🤍
