Words decay before they’re spoken,
Ashes fall where faith is broken
My roots are chains the void has spun,
I crawl through night, denied the sun

I watched a heaven rot to dust,
Its gates now rust, its angels’ trust
The truth I seek , too blunt , too near
It strips my tongue, it burns my ear

The present drags me by the throat,
A ghost that wears the life I wrote

I’m cage like a beast that cannot roar,
A fish that dies upon the shore
The world has failed , and so have I
A fool who learns but cannot try

I cry each night until I fade,
And wake to debts my tears have paid
To live?
To rot? I cannot tell
For both are rooms inside my hell

They praise defeat as wisdom’s art,
But ashes never grow a heart.
I gasped for pride, I found despair,
A fish that walks through poisoned air

Yet deep beneath this ruin’s sound,
A pulse still beats beneath the ground
Perhaps it dreams, perhaps it lies
But still it lives, and still it tries
