Ride Into The Dream

No voice. No rush. Just the road, the sound of the engine, and a dream unfolding turn by turn.

Ride Into The Dream

Hey! POV guru — how do you deal with jittering when using an ND filter on an action camera? I’ve tried a bunch of different shutter speeds but still can’t find that sweet spot with nice motion blur and solid stabilization at the same time.

My tests:

1. FPS 24, shutter 1/50 (180-degree rule) — jittery and blurry as hell!
2. FPS 24, shutter 1/100 (“quadruple rule”) — less jittery, but still unusable.
3. FPS 24, shutter 1/200 (saw this rule on YouTube) — more or less OK, but a bit choppy and almost no cinematic motion blur.

4. FPS 30, shutter 1/60 (180-degree rule) — jittery, but not blurry.
5. FPS 30, shutter 1/120 (“quadruple rule”) — less jittery and almost OK if you use Gyroflow with 2–4% smoothness.
6. FPS 30, shutter 1/200 — more or less OK, but the sense of speed is reduced due to low motion blur.

7.I tried 60 FPS, and everything was stable, but it looks like a soap opera and doesn’t convey speed properly. Also unusable.

I really need help, guys!

My setup:
Camera: DJO OSMO Action 5 PRO
ND-Filter: f32.

Camera settings:
FPS: 30
Shutter speed: 1/60
Texture: -2
Noise Reduction: 0
ISO: 100-3200
Stablilizarion: off (I use Gyroflow in post)

Ride Into The Dream

🚨 Little update: I had a fall from the bike and tore the back of my thigh. Nothing life-threatening, but recovery will take some time.

I’ll use this break to work on editing and bring you new videos soon. Thanks for staying with me — your support really means a lot 🙏

P.S. Lesson learned — my bike and slippery roads don’t get along.
