The last few months I’ve been trying to embrace the pivot. For too many years I’ve let ruined plans ruin my day.

In that spirit I managed to get two pretty decent videos out of footage for an idea I had that just didn’t pan out.

My process for filming has always been a bit chaotic. I typically collect footage as I go, and find the story it tells in the edit. This time I had the idea for the video first, and tried to get footage to tell the story I had in my head. But the trail doesn’t always cooperate.

I almost scraped it all together. But then I thought “what if I go back to my usual process and see if there’s a story in there after all”?

Hi there! I’m Jim. I run Lost Again with Jim. Quick PSA: if you disagree with something I’ve said in a video and want to have a productive discussion about it, I am all in!!! That’s a big part of why I do this. I’m not always right, and maybe you have a perspective I haven’t considered.

However, if you want to be rude, call people names, make threats, etc, I’ll block you. Without hesitation. My channel isn’t monetized, I’m not super worried about my subscriber count or watch time. This is a fun hobby, and a place to build community with like minded folks. I don’t have the time or patience for that kind of nonsense.

Through the winter while I’ll be hiking less, I want to make more of these “discussion videos”. Keep the channel afloat and stay in touch with y’all. I hope you enjoy them, or at least learn from them.

Home from a quick and fun overnight with Ranger. We set out to camp at Penner Lake, but it was really,really crowded. We managed to find a nice secluded spot at another lake and had great night.

Lost Again with Jim

I’m creeping up on 1600 subscribers!?!? Kind of wild to think. When I started this channel I figured a couple friends would watch and I’d lose interest after a year or two. Now 6 (maybe 7?) years later I’m still going. I’ve met some amazing people and made lasting friendships all because of the channel.

Thank you to everyone who’s watched, liked, commented etc. It means a lot to me that y’all have found anything of value in what I’ve shared. ❤️❤️
