Live Ready is a faith based survival, bushcraft and preparedness channel presented by Clarise, a STASA qualified survival instructor (BSI-23-26) and Highfield Level 5 certified International Close Protection Officer (END9233623) and Preparedness Consultant stationed in the Western Cape, South Africa.
It is imperative that we factor survival and preparedness skills into a lifestyle of preparedness, especially in the times that we live in.
The Live Ready platform is here for us to share our experiences of acquiring wilderness survival skills, experience in preparedness as well as practical bushcraft skills in preparation for any circumstances that we may find ourselves in.
I believe that we can do this with the right skills and gear, all the while taking care of our environment and ensuring the sustainability and longevity of our resources and wildlife.

Driving home from the bush today I thought about all the positive roles that people had voluntarily played in my life which have left a lasting memory. The most prominent of these were all memories from my childhood of people who drew me closer or picked up the part when it was needed and ofcourse, my dad being my literal rescuer.
Jung referred to aging as a profound inward journey -as you age you become less focussed on societal roles and external validation and more focussed personal wholeness. This correlates with Maslow's hierarchy in a subtle way through Jung's posit of the individuation process.
How though, can a child learn to give back to society in adulthood if not for role models and even those who play a small role in the formation of their character from a young age?
Today I find myself in the middle. Feeling whole for being able to give of myself freely, and understanding now how that will lead young hearts to do the same later in their lives.
If today you are a dad, remember the kids who don't have you as a role model, and if the opportunity presents itself, however small the means, then be a dad to those kids too.

Let's talk gear! Right at the top of my list is anything MOLLE.
The best of it is when it's quick and easy to attach or remove as is the case with the Live Ready battle belts (olive drab/khaki).
Composed of an inner hook and loop belt which fits through your pant's loops like a normal belt, and a MOLLE over belt with all pouches attached that then sticks onto the hook and loop (Velcro) belt. This means you can easily attach or remove all of the pouches simultaneously by just releasing the cobra buckle and pulling the top Velcro belt off from the one looped through your pants.
Easy on, easy off while remaining secure even in kinetic situations.
I wear my belts (yes I have two because one is none...) on training days and at the range. The versatile, removable pouches double as admin, gear and IFAK pouches and allow enough room for that carbine or second pistol mag pouch for mag change exercises.
Gear is my favourite topic because when you've found something you like you could live in the new gear.
If you choose it well, you'll wear it anywhere.

In survival preparedness clothing forms the first layer of our shelter system. Depending on the environment you'll either add or remove layers of specific fabrics. What you don't want to be without, irrespective of the layer, is durability and comfort in perfect balance. No chafing, no ripping, and an extended lifetime for the fist layer that both protects and shelters you.
In snow, rain, bush and semi-desert, I've tested many different fabric types, brands and functional aspects of outdoor clothing. Some worthwhile and some not. My take on full function. Blend durability and comfort so that your physical ability is matched by your gear, allowing you to focus on skills.
