Hear the name Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and you may think first of the Impressionism co-founder's lively paintings capturing social scenes; beautiful portraits; and lush landscapes. "Renoir Drawings," a traveling exhibition of more than a hundred of the beloved French artist's works on paper, currently is showing in New York City, at the Morgan Library & Museum (through February 8, 2026) and will move to Paris' 7e arrondissement at le Musée d'Orsay (March 17-July 5, 2026).

When I learned last night (Saturday, October 11, 2025), of the passing of my favorite post-1960s actress, Diane Keaton, I had completed the rewriting of a poem -- "The Flame with No Name" -- to capture the magic with which I originaIly had conceived it.

In an effort to "hold it together," I decided to recite the poem for the purpose of sharing it with those of you in this world who also are seeking a little escape. And no, it's not an autobiographical poem. Rather, my verse was inspired by lyrics on the bridge of Joni Mitchell's pop-jazz fusion song "Help Me" -- specifically the lines: "Go dance with the lady with the hole in her stockin' / Didn't it feel good?"

This Sunday morning, I'm dedicating my rewritten poem to the memory of Diane Keaton. Rest easy. ✨️💖
