Hi guys! My name is Alex and I read a lot of books. I’m also very tall.

Welcome to Tall Guy Reads, a channel where I create book reviews, discussions, and other related videos discussing all things fantasy, sci-fi, & horror in literature and other forms of media. My goal is to help new and old readers alike find books and authors they will love and enjoy, as well as bring additional input into discussions around them. I hope my content can help readers sharpen their reading taste and end each day a little better than the last.

I love reading books that are popular in the community, but I also really enjoy trying as many authors and series I haven't read and may not be quite as well-known. I primarily read fantasy, sci-fi, and horror, but frequently enjoy diving into historical fiction and classic literature here and there as well. I am an avid book collector and book thrifter and when I come across great finds, I will be sharing them with the community.

Happy Monday Everyone and Happy Labor Day to all those in the States!!

I just wanted to make a post updating you all on some exciting news and what I’ve been up to the last few weeks.

FYI, this might be a long one.

First off, I know it’s been quiet on here for the last few weeks and that’s a total result of me taking some time for a much needed mental health reset and break. It was unplanned, but much needed. On top of some life things going on, it’s been extremely nice to take a step back and I’m more excited than ever to come back and start making videos again soon. I appreciate you guys so much and your patience and understanding the last month or so has been incredible. Speaking of videos, I wanted to share two exciting collabs I’ll be doing extremely soon!

1. This week I have the absolute honor of interviewing Philip Fracassi, author of "Boys in the Valley", "A Child Alone with Strangers", "Gothic" and many more fantastic and terrifying horror stories. Philip's work is new to me, but over the last month or so I've read all four novels of his, loved every single one, and plan on reading his shorter fiction as soon as possible. I am beyond ecstatic for this interview and can't wait for you all to see it! This should be uploaded relatively quickly after the conversation itself so keep an eye out towards the end of this week/weekend for that one to drop. It's going to be a fun one!

2. Next week, I have the pleasure of joining ‪@jakebishop7822‬ on his channel to discuss all things Dresden Files because if you didn't already knows, I am OFFICIALLY all caught up with the series (besides the short stories lol). Jake invited me on for a full spoilers conversation about the series and I can't wait for this as binging books 13-17 was an absolute roller coaster of an experience and there's so much I need to talk about.

Beyond that and on top of some of other collaborations I have coming up, I am really excited to start making some videos again as I have a few ones that I think you guys are going to really enjoy! The first of these is a book review for a book I'm reading right now and only being halfway through, I'm really looking forward to talking about this one.

That said, there almost certainly won't be a TBR/Wrap-Up video this month. Instead, I'll be jumping into some video ideas soon that I'm a little more excited about in order to kickstart the content back up on the channel.

However, I definitely wanted to share some brief updates on my reading from August, which was incredible to say the least:
- I finished Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn
- I caught up fully on The Dresden Files
- I finished The Long Price Quartet
- I read a number of great horror books, including "Desperation" by Stephen King, which I loved
- I officially started The Age of Madness Trilogy and "A Little Hatred" blew me away

Going into September:
- I plan on finishing The Age of Madness
- I will certainly be reading more King (with his new release "Holly" kicking off the month) as well as some other horror novels I want to get to (certainly have been in a horror mood lately)
- I will be continuing Malazan with "Midnight Tides"
- And more so stay tuned!

On top of all of that, I want to give an incredible thank you to my Patrons, whose continuous support means the world to me. Despite not having a monthly update video this month, we absolutely will be announcing a Patron Pick for September and here it is...

The September Patron Book of the Month is "The Bone Shard Daughter" by Andrea Stewart! This was selected by my Patron Ryan and hearing him talk about how much he loved this trilogy has made me really excited to give this one a go. Thank you Ryan!

On that note, I will leave you guys there, but before you go I just want to again say thank you. Your support, comments, likes, views, and every interaction means so much to me and I love this community. It sucks to take time off, but now that I'm on the tail end of it, I feel better than ever and am really looking forward to September and bringing some exciting content to all of you.

I hope you enjoy your day and your week!

Cheers!!

Hail, Reaper!

Drove into the city to see Pierce Brown speak about the newest chapter of the Red Rising saga, “Light Bringer” and had an absolute blast. Hearing Pierce talk about the ups and downs he faced while writing this newest installment and what he set out to do when doing so was extremely insightful and fascinating. I’m a little under halfway through “Light Bringer” right now and enjoying the hell out of it and can’t wait to see what’s to come.

Oh, and I also brought him a bunch of books to sign lol…

Happy Monday everyone! If you live in the Northeast of the US like I do, I’m sure you’ve seen a picture like this before, but after five inches of rain in two hours our driveway and basement got flooded.

Luckily, nothing serious got damaged and we were able to get it all cleared out and dried up, but it did change a filming day to a drain water day. You might notice a slight delay in content this week as a result, but I’m going to try to get some things filmed this week once things settle down a bit here.

Overall, I appreciate you all so much and I hope you’re all having a wonderful reading month this July!
