One of the biggest mistakes I see on LinkedIn is surprisingly simple.

People spend hours polishing their profile...But leave their LinkedIn URL looking like this: linkedin.com/in/johnsmith-7284b1c93

It might seem like a small detail, but first impressions are built from small, or tiny, details.

Why you should have a custom LinkedIn URL:

1. Feels more personal when connecting with people

2. Looks more professional as well, because it reveals your name

3. It is easier to remember and strikes a chord

4. Fits neatly on your CV, email signature, portfolio, and business cards

5. Reinforces your personal brand

6. And lastly, it takes less than two minutes to change.

I received this lovely invitation from Intandem Scot to celebrate mentors, and it brought a big smile to my face.

Mentoring has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. The opportunity to listen, encourage, learn, and grow alongside young people is a privilege I never take for granted.

I waited 6 months for this moment… and June decided to begin with a celebration.

The month has barely started, yet it has already given me a reason to smile.

After months of waiting, hoping, and trusting the process, I finally received the news I had been looking forward to. It came as a beautiful surprise and a reminder that sometimes the things we desire most take time, but they are still worth waiting for.

This moment has reminded me that not every delay is a setback. Some delays are preparing us for something greater than we imagined.

As I step into June, my heart is full of gratitude, hope, and expectation. I am choosing to believe that this month will be filled with joy, jubilation, new opportunities, and many more reasons to celebrate.

If you’re currently waiting on something important, don’t lose heart. Keep showing up. Keep believing. Keep doing the work. Your breakthrough may be closer than you think.

The job market has changed. I keep seeing job descriptions with words like "data storytelling" and "technology roadmapping", even very funny, unimagined job titles, and I thought, " Is this even real? 😅

But here's what I've learned: the job market isn't confusing because you're not smart enough. It's confusing because it is not broken down in plain language.

So that's what I did.

I went through LinkedIn's Skills on the Rise 2026 UK report, and they didn't just list skills. They mapped them across 10 different job functions.

Which means whether you're in Finance, HR, Healthcare, Marketing, Sales or Engineering — there's a specific set of skills LinkedIn is saying employers are actively looking for RIGHT NOW in your field.

Here are the ones that surprised me most:

👉 Healthcare; ethical decision-making is a rising skill. Not a clinical skill. A human skill. That tells you everything about where work is heading.

👉 Sales, relationship management and negotiation are climbing. Because AI can do the research, but it can't build trust with a client. That's still what humans can do.

👉 HR; cross-cultural communication is rising. Makes sense when you think about how global teams have become.

And the likes of Business Development and Marketing, which takes me back to my former corporate role from when I was a corporate "girlie" back home. These roles are still trending and on the rise, according to LinkedIn research.

On Tuesday evening, I attended our Kids Club at Action for Children with my fellow mentors, and although it was a calm and simple evening, it reminded me why community spaces matter so much.

We spent time chatting, catching up on plans for our upcoming Awards Night in June, playing games with the children, and simply being present.

One of my favourite moments?
A young person taught me how to play snooker and honestly, I had such a good time learning from them. It was a beautiful reminder that mentorship is never one-sided. Sometimes, the young people we support teach us just as much through their patience, confidence, and willingness to connect.

We rounded off the evening by sharing dinner together, and it just felt wholesome.

Not every impactful moment comes from big events or loud achievements. Sometimes, it’s the quiet evenings, shared laughter, simple conversations, and small connections that leave the biggest impact.

Grateful for spaces that continue to build confidence, belonging, and genuine human connection.

The Sun came out on this side of Inverness Scotland without the cold wind and it feels very lovely to step out to receive the sun in her fullness.

It was 22 degrees yesterday and felt like 30 degrees.

My coworker said to me 22 degrees in Nigeria would be like cold right 🙃 and I said it would just be an ok temperature not too hot because we see loads of days 😅
