I used to keep all my glass displayed on glass shelves. All glass has a threshold to the amount of stress it can continuously sustain before it shatters. Even if you don't add more to your glass shelves, the amount of weight they currently sustain will eventually give way. I now only use steel shelves for my vintage glass.
