Patristic Pillars

One of the most common myths is that devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a late invention. In reality, Christians have long contemplated and venerated the loving Heart of Christ, especially as revealed in His Passion and in His boundless mercy toward mankind.

Consider this beautiful prayer from a medieval German prayerbook of the 1100s:

“Sacred Heart was seized when you, Lord Christ, surrendered your holy limbs to suffering, and for your love and loyalty towards men, I beg you to comfort the pain of my heart, as you comforted the pain of your disciples in the days of your resurrection.”

This is a powerful witness that meditation upon and devotion to the Heart of Christ reaches deep into the life of the medieval Church. The faithful understood that the Heart of Jesus symbolizes His infinite love, mercy, compassion, and self-sacrifice for the salvation of the world.

Let us turn our hearts to His Heart this month and every month.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, comfort the afflicted.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, pray for us.

As we honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus this month, let us remember that every restless soul is searching for the peace that can only be found in Christ.

Pray for your family members who have wandered from the faith.

Pray for those who are struggling, hurting, or far from God.

And yes, pray even for those who hate you, oppose you, or seek to tear you down.

The answer to hatred is not more hatred. The answer is the transforming love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. May every restless heart find refuge, healing, and true peace in the Heart that was pierced for the salvation of the world.

Without Christ as the Suffering Servant, there is no Christianity. Our salvation rests upon the One who willingly bore our sins, suffered in our place, and reconciled us to God through His sacrificial love.

The Suffering Servant is Jesus Christ, and through His wounds we have life. ✝️

Recently, a liberal, so-called Catholic joined my show multiple times to challenge the inerrancy of Sacred Scripture—going so far as to claim that the Bible contains clear scientific and historical errors. When pressed with the very words of Christ affirming the authority and truth of Scripture, the gentleman doubled down.

This is precisely why clarity is needed today more than ever.

As Pope Leo XIII, along with the Church Fathers, Popes, and Ecumenical Councils throughout history have consistently taught, Sacred Scripture is wholly inerrant. We cannot pick and choose—affirming doctrine while denying historical truth—this is not the faith handed down to us.

The Word of God is divinely inspired, supernatural, and free from all error.

Stand firm in the classical teaching of the Church.
