Retro Fun Fact: The Sega Genesis (Mega Drive outside North America) launched in 1988 and landed stateside in 1989. It delivered arcade-quality graphics at home, introduced Sonic the Hedgehog, and gave us legendary series like Streets of Rage, Shining Force, and Mortal Kombat with blood intact. The Genesis became the symbol of Sega’s edgy, fast-paced style and locked horns with Nintendo’s SNES in one of gaming’s greatest rivalries.
