June 19th 1865. The last enslaved people in Texas received word of a freedom that had already been declared two and a half years earlier.
Someone withheld the information.
I think about that in the context of this community every single day.
How many professionals are still walking around not knowing their market value? Not knowing their experience qualifies them for significantly more? Not knowing they have every right to negotiate and pursue and claim the roles and compensation they actually deserve?
Part of why I do this work is because of days like today.
Freedom means nothing if you do not know you have it.

Should you apply to a role that already has over 100 applicants? 👀
Yes. Every single time.
Of those 100 applicants approximately 80 will never be seen by a human. Their resumes get filtered out by the ATS before a hiring manager opens a single file.
The real competition is the 20 percent whose resumes are positioned correctly.
The question is never how many people applied. The question is whether your resume is in that top 20 percent.
