Something one always dreads to see on safari ... ( not for sensitive viewers )
This morning, our guide, @deon_wildlifephotography, and his guests had a very emotional sighting as our beloved Dark Mane Avoca male got caught in between a herd of buffalo.
He was with the Nkuhuma breakaway pride when they went on the hunt after buffalo. Unfortunately , things turned bad quickly as the big herd of buffalo turned on the lions and stampeded towards them.
With Dark Mane's injury , he was not able to get away from the buffalo and got caught and was circled by the whole herd.
After 15 minutes of being thrown around and trampled by the buffalo and fighting for his dear life, the other lions came to his aid but we do think it was too late.
He was still alive with a few wounds on him and in a bad condition when we left him this morning.
Could this be the end of the Legendary Dark Mane Avoca ?
