WHAT IS ĀRK? HOW A GBC LEADER GLORIFIED THIS INITIATIVE!

ĀRK is an initiative way to present Śrīla Prabhupāda books and Vedic Corpus as a whole in an interactive way for the whole world.

And in order to do this, the 5 eternal truths of creation: īśvara: The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa; jīva: The Spirit Soul; kāla: Time; prakṛti: Material Nature; and karma: individual duties which are further categorized into karma, akarma and vikarma—had to be put to a system.

What’s interesting is that every activity we do in life, these 5 facts are involved. Just as we aren’t independent of gravity, no less are we independent of these 5 eternal truths.

Let’s just say a man wishes to make a rocket. To make the rocket—the spirit soul has to be there. But how does he make the rocket? The ingredients for that has to be supplied by material nature and he uses them. But there has to be "time" so as to activate this activity, otherwise it’s just static and inert.

Next comes karma. If the soul performs vikarma, that path leads him to undesirable results. If he performs karma, he gets the fruits of his results and if he performs akarma—that leads him to the path of liberation. In all three of these, the path of akarma is recommended for that frees one from the process of birth and death and takes him to the spiritual world.

Even for argument’s sake, karma is taken into focus, then again: the Supreme Personality of Godhead is one who sanctions material nature to reward the jīva. And for vikarma, it’s the Supreme Personality of Godhead who sanctions for the punishment of the jīva.

If one has infinite material desires, the Supreme Lord also grants that too:

evaṁ kāyena manasā
vacasā ca mano-gatam
paricaryamāṇo bhagavān
bhaktimat-paricaryayā

puṁsām amāyināṁ samyag
bhajatāṁ bhāva-vardhanaḥ
śreyo diśaty abhimataṁ
yad dharmādiṣu dehinām

Anyone who thus engages in the devotional service of the Lord, seriously and sincerely, with his mind, words and body, and who is fixed in the activities of the prescribed devotional methods, is blessed by the Lord according to his desire. If a devotee desires material religiosity, economic development, sense gratification or liberation from the material world, he is awarded these results.

For vikarma and karma, the Supreme Lord is not directly involved. However for akarma, he directly intervenes to help the jīva on the path of liberation.

So, he offers the rocket to Śrī Kṛṣṇa for his service. Maybe make a Kṛṣṇa temple on Mars, or start a civilization there full of Kṛṣṇa devotees and this idea itself is not something astonishing for the whole of Vedic Corpus has tons of interplanetary beings:

Gandharvas, Yakṣas, Kinnaras, Kiṃpuruṣas, Devas, Apsarās, Siddhas, Cāraṇas, Vidyādharas, Nāgas, Uragas, Garuḍas, Suparṇas, Rākṣasas, Piśācas, Bhūtas, Pretas, Vetālas, Pramathas, Guhyakas, Kṣetrapālas, Dikpālas, Ṛṣis, Munis, Devarṣis, Rājarṣis, Brahmarṣis, Mahārṣis, Sādhus, Sādhyas, Maruts, Rudras, Ādityas, Vasus, Aśvinīkumāras, Viśvedevas, Pitṛs, Ṛbhus, etc.

Seems like a long list…But this is just the start of what’s out there.

So, Kṛṣṇa Consciousness is different from world religions. It’s not something that is for the body, but for the soul and its service to Kṛṣṇa. Therefore the fanaticism “bodily” religions carry forward are not applicable to a scientific process of God Realization.

sa vai puṁsāṁ paro dharmo
yato bhaktir adhokṣaje
ahaituky apratihatā
yayātmā suprasīdati

The supreme occupation [dharma] for all humanity is that by which men can attain to loving devotional service unto the transcendent Lord. Such devotional service must be unmotivated and uninterrupted to completely satisfy the self.

ŚB 1.2.6

Therefore, the idea of a spaceship is something Vedic Scriptures find interesting, so much so as the modern world does and this interest can co-exist.
But, what the Vedic Scripture have to offer extra is to add a reason, a purpose for advancement. That’s Kṛṣṇa in centre of everything we do.

paraṁ padaṁ vaiṣṇavam āmananti tad
yan neti netīty atad utsisṛkṣavaḥ
visṛjya daurātmyam ananya-sauhṛdā
hṛdopaguhyārha-padaṁ pade pade

The transcendentalists desire to avoid everything godless, for they know that supreme situation in which everything is related with the Supreme Lord Viṣṇu. Therefore a pure devotee who is in absolute harmony with the Lord does not create perplexities, but worships the lotus feet of the Lord at every moment, taking them into his heart.
