Hi hi! I'm Merk
I spend all my money on metal rectangles that go clickity clack and all kinds of tech stuff like gaming mice, microphones, and more!

Merkeebs

Hey guys! Quick little update 😊

So been thinking about this for a good while but, while I absolutely love making videos on keyboards, keebs aren't the only thing I'm passionate creating content on for the channel, lemme explain...

I really love checking out consumer tech like desk setup essentials, PC hardware, and even EDC (Every Day Carry) tech like magsafe accessories, powerbanks and more

So something I'm trying out in order for the channel to branch out a bit into more general tech, desk setup gadgets / tools, and even everyday carry tech I've made a choice and started accepting review units for more general tech products like this desk lamp from the guys at LitONES

But don't get me wrong, this isn't gonna be one of those Techtuber channels that checks out cheap and mass produced generic products, or stuff that eventually turns into e-waste, or cheap consumer electronics
I still make it a point to take my time to pick stuff that I wanna personally make videos on, and I screen each and every brand that reaches out so I can actually weed out the "kinda useless" tech, the "meh, been there done that" tech, and really showcase stuff that I personally like and wanna show off to you guys

So all I'm asking from you guys is a little bit of support on this latest video 😅
I know most of you guys subscribed for keyboard content, and other peripheral coverage, and don't worry that isn't going anywhere, but I'd really like to broaden my horizons and create videos on other tech to learn new things, try my hand using my camera gear for stuff other than peripherals, and really show you guys all sorts of cool tech that releases on a regular basis

Thank you guys for all the support this far
and I hope you like the new content coming up on the channel!

Hey guys!
I'm dealing with a bit of a problem when it comes to consistently producing videos on a regular basis

So right now I have this huge backlog of keyboards and other products that I gotta work on videos for (some even recently released) and the boxes are definitely piling up making it a bit of a problem just trying to keep up with the workload as a solo creator

I know hiring an editor is a thing some channels do, but at this point, I can't really afford to keep one on given how little Adsense generates and how inconsistent sponsored videos are for a channel my size

As much as I love to work on full scale review videos for you guys since I've been doing it all this time, having fully produced videos with A-roll footage, B-roll footage, and a fully scripted voiceover for each and every video has just been really demanding and has been taking way longer than usual because I'm trying to balance my personal life and working on videos full time

So I think I'm experiencing a bit of burn out as much as I hate to admit it 😔

So I just wanted to ask if you guys would be cool if I were to do something similar to Alexotos and Captain Sterling's style of showcasing and reviewing boards

Where I do a livestream on Twitch (or YouTube potentially in the future) where I check out a board or two, do a showcase, build out a board in different configs with or without aftermarket parts and give my overall thoughts on boards while also of course hanging out with you guys in my chat so we can talk about pretty much anything either keeb or non-keeb related, just to give it a bit of a personal touch

After the streams I would then cut the VOD's into something more appropriate for YouTube length
Kinda like what I did for the Neo80 showcase I did last year which someone ended up more viewed than I was expecting
(Check that out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmiAm...)

I could also make it so that I can still do fully produced videos for some of the more interesting releases in combination with stream VOD's for ready-to-buy keyboards from different vendors just to make videos come out a bit faster - right now I'm just thinking about how to differentiate what boards are worth a full showcase and what's worth streaming for quick info dumping

It's just an idea I've been thinking about trying for awhile
But anyways, if you guys have any suggestions I'm open to hearing them out

Thank you guys for taking the time to read this! And thank you guys as always for all the support 💖

Heyo!
Just wanted to give a quick little update that videos might be put on hold for a little bit because of some electrical issues here at home

So basically, the electrical meter outside the house pretty much melted because of an overload and there’s no power throughout the entire house making my home studio where I produce all my videos pretty much unusable
but at least the electrical meter melting seems to be all the damage done

It definitely could’ve been worse and started some kind of electrical fire but yeah, thankfully that didn’t happen 😅

So for the time being I’ve had to temporarily relocate while things get sorted out and all the house wiring and the meter gets replaced 🥲

In the meantime I’ll try and finish up work on editing pre-existing footage of some up and coming releases

Hopefully my brand partners, sponsors, and of course you guys can understand why uploads might have a bit of a gap this month

Could take awhile without any estimate on when things get sorted out so hope you guys understand 🙏

And that’s day 1 of @thegrandlason 2024 done!
What an experience - I’m at a loss for words

I shared the stage with the keyboard bigbois ‪@SquashyBoy‬ and ‪@TaehaTypes‬ aswell as my good friend ‪@kevntech‬

Sold out almost all the keyboards I brought to sell at steal deals to the community and the keyswitch gacha created lines that spanned through the walkpaths of the venue
Which made a lot of people happy regardless of whether they won or not

All of this really wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my friends and many more from the keeb community I call my friends - to them I am super super thankful!

We still have day 2 of TGL 2024 tomorrow but it’s safe to say that TGL R3 will be another one to remember for a long long time

So we hold a massive mechanical keyboard meet up / convention every year here in the Philippines called “The Grand Lason” and it’s a massive celebration of the local Philippine keyboard community and just fun hobbies as a whole

Today is day 1 of this 2 day celebration and this year we got ‪@SquashyBoy‬ and ‪@TaehaTypes‬ to fly down to the 🇵🇭 to be a part of the fun!

I started out watching these dudes mid-pandemic when I was just getting super deep into the keeb hobby and the channel was barely even an idea in my mind
and now here I am meeting them in person as a fellow content creator, and to me this is just wild since these dudes are a big inspiration for what I do on this channel 😄

So yeah
Happy day 1 of TGL!
I’m super excited for what’s to come and I hope everyone has a ton of fun
I look forward to meeting some of you guys in-person at the event 😁

If you guys are in the market for a pre-built TKL that sounds and feels great out of the box then you might wanna check out the GX87 Ultra by MCHOSE. It's an awesome pre-built F13 TKL keyboard that uses a ball catch build system and is tri-mode wireless capable.

The cheapest variant of the board (without a ball catch system) costs just $59 (if you get in on the super early bird tier on their Indiegogo campaign) so if you're even just a little bit interested in checking out the board, might be worth looking at their Indiegogo Campaign page

Here's the link to it: www.indiegogo.com/projects/mchose-gx87-aluminum-cu…

And I also just posted my full review so you can check it out here:

Heyoooo!
Just wanted to run something by you guys

Would you guys be alright if I posted videos that were a bit more condensed and short form alongside my usual fully produced videos?

I'm not exactly talking about making YouTube Shorts or vertical video reels but like, videos that don't drag on for too long

Videos where I just do a quick showcase of different products (boards, keycaps, switches), do a rundown where I check out boards, where to buy em, their specs, and inclusions followed up by a sound test or two (foam and/or no foam) with my impressions of the product

Because the most part, a lot of boards releasing nowadays are these fully foamed up, flex cut, tri mode boards that share alot of similarities which can really eat into the production time of each upload and makes alot of the videos seem really cookie cutter

Full disclosure: I have a number of boards piled up over here that definitely deserve the attention and a dedicated video but if produce a full length video for each board it'll be a long time before I get through the entire backlog and by then some boards probably won't even be on sale anymore

So I really wanna know what you guys think
Also I'm open to any feedback and suggestions if you guys have any!

Thanks as always for the support!

Hey guys!
During my time in Hong Kong I got the chance to talk to the co-owner of Wuque Studio, a.k.a. Mama Wuque about the Wuque Studio / Meletrix brands, some upcoming projects, and what we can expect from Wuque Studio in the future.

Check out the full video over on the channel!

I am beyond thankful to Wuque Studio (especially Mama and Papa Wuque haha 🤣) for inviting me out and giving me the opportunity to check out their booth at the Global Sources Consumer Electronics Show in Hong Kong!

I got to get an early look at some past iterations, current releases, and future projects in their lineup like some very special all Titanium case Promise87’s, some China Exclusive Evangelion Ikki68’s, the incoming Zoom65 V3, and the Chilkey ND75 😁

This was my very first time flying out to attend a trade show and it really gave me a lot of insight into the amount of work that gets put into designing and marketing these keyboards and electronics that we use day to day.

The entire Wuque Studio team was incredibly nice, hospitable and incredibly fun to hang out with during my time at the event and I can’t wait for the next chance I get to meet with them in person.

I’ll be releasing some videos covering the event, Wuque’s booth, and a really interesting interview with co-owner of Wuque studio, Sophie a.k.a mama Wuque haha!

Stay tuned for the videos!
