I observe a recurring pattern on this platform: my skinfolk seeking validation and recognition within systems designed to maintain the status quo for those who colonised us. This was a deliberate design, in case you were unaware.
Why aren't we Africans proactively developing systems and policies that serve our collective best interests? Why don't we want to build from scratch instead of us always tagging into systems that were not built for our African paradigm?
For centuries, the world has exploited our resources, human capital, and intellectual property. Their presence doesn't need to be physical; their influence is deeply ingrained in our thinking. We have become gatekeepers for their systems.
My question is: when will we create our own systems, using our internal resources as leverage to demand what we want from the rest of the world and shape how we are perceived?
How can we present Africa to the world, free from the lingering effects of exploitation and ingrained biases?
When will the world acknowledge the rightful place of the cradle of humankind on this planet?
Why is it so difficult for us to be African and Afro-Centric in whatever we do?
