A festive hello!

I hope everyone’s having a good month, and I’m glad so many of you are enjoying the newest remake! Sorry it took so long to finish, I wore my voice out a little bit working on my album and had to recover for a while. Here’s hoping for the curse to strike a final time…

Hey I’m Out will likely be my last reconstruction for a while, as I haven’t really been keeping up with the lostwave community for a while now. I’ve spoken a couple of times about bringing the project to a definite close, but as long as I don’t overstretch myself I think I’m fine working on multiple projects at once.

My main focus for 2025 is completing my Primary project, an album trilogy representing three opposing (or interlinking) styles of music to represent the full spectrum of the sounds I currently enjoy and produce. The first part called “Everything’s Happening” comes out on NYE and if you enjoy my uncanny funky retrofuturistic stuff, you might find a song or two to enjoy there!

In the new year I’d like to shift the focus of this project to appreciation of some of the found bands and artists we’ve collectively discovered in the past year or so. It makes it a lot easier to approach copyright respectfully, and perhaps I can shine a light on some of the incredible artists breaking through for a second time! There are also a few songs I never started work on that I’d like to cover, so I’ll start laying the groundwork for them soon.

Like the Wind’s been found, and the band’s been identified- truly feels like the end of an era! Another lost album on the way by Who’s Who too, it’s a good time for the community.

I’ve been so wrapped up in music stuff lately I’ve had very little time, kind of didn’t get around to posting the Halloween videos. They ended up looking pretty low-effort and nothing special, but I can still throw em on a side channel if anyone wants to see some windows movie maker core edits.

I don’t really check this channel anymore but thanks to everyone who’s still commenting! Hey I’m Out isn’t cancelled, just unfortunately not a huge priority at the moment. I won’t let you down!

Thank you for voting! I’ve done a little bit of thinking and here are some thoughts that came out. As for the Motives Project part of this channel, it’s going to all stay here. I might post some extra things I found recently from the creative process, as well as my Hey I’m Out rework in the very near future.

I had a lot of fun editing videos here, and I think this will continue to be the main purpose of this channel going forwards. With AI now absorbing copyrighted material and spitting it back out with no regard for credit or appreciation of the source material, I don’t especially feel bad about chopping up movies freely available on YouTube to make art projects out of them. A lot of my song ideas first form while I’m watching movies! Unlike lostwave, all of the people involved in the movies have been fully credited (at least I hope so), leaving me in a bit less of an ethical blindspot.

Visuals have always been an extremely important part of music for me, but with the budget I have I don’t really feel the world needs 4 minutes of me awkwardly lipsyncing in some random place right now. I’ve got all the ideas and none of the gear! I don’t want to risk a copyright strike on my main channel for using these movies, even though the music will be original it might affect me in the future. I was planning to make a third side channel for this, but managing two channels already is a lot for me.

I’ve developed a real love of video editing recently, but without the means to make any cool footage I’ve kind of been at a standstill. I’m going to refine things a bit more before I get to work on my first edit, but which of these movies would you like to see edited first?

“Hey I’m Out” will probably be the last lostwave song I rework for a good long time. Once it’s out, should I just leave this channel be as an archive of the project, or keep uploading original music here and rebrand a little? The algorithm definitely seems to favour this channel over my personal YouTube, but I don’t want to spam my subscribers here with stuff they’re not interested in.

My next project is very inspired by lostwave culture and aesthetics, but I don’t want to feel like I’m using the community to promote my own music. Over to you!
