Today is my third anniversary on YouTube! Can't believe it's been that long since I uploaded my first Ark vid. Time flies when you're having fun.
If anyone wants a glance at how far I've come in that time, here is my embarrassing first vid, which was meant as a trailer for the second vid. Which was supposed to be a livestream but I didn't know what I was doing and messed up a setting so it wasn't live and I had to upload it later. 😆

New video published now for members, going to have a premiere tomorrow!

When it's available publicly, it will play through it for the first time as a **live** event.

So like last time I did this, last week, it will be like a hybrid of a video and a livestream!
Like a stream, except no mic, I'll be hanging out in chat with y'all!

And since I won't be trying to build and stream and read chat at the same time, I'll be able to better focus on following chat and having a good time with you and answering questions. I'm picturing just a chill hangout.

Like a stream, you can put it on a second screen or tv and "lurk" while multitasking, and check in occasionally to see how the building evolves! Unlike a regular video, if you have a question about any of it, you can freely ask in chat and I can answer in real time!

So mark your calendar for tomorrow, April 10, starting at noon Eastern (9am Pacific, 5pm UK)! I'd love to hang out with you!
And let me know if you like this video format. I have a LOT of Ark building footage I could turn into this style of video! Also thinking of perhaps making this kind of videos for Tiny Glade, Enshrouded, Astroneer, or other similar games with great sound design and a beautiful, soothing aesthetic... and lots of scope for creative building.

New video published now for members, going to have a premiere tomorrow! And I'm going to try something new!

This is an extremely chill video, and it's 6 hours long, so I'm going to do it as a premiere. So basically, when it's available publicly, it will play through it for the first time as a live event.

So it will be like a hybrid of a video and a livestream. Like a stream, except no mic, I'll be hanging out in chat with y'all! And also most of the time (maybe not all of it) I'll hang out in a public voice chat on my Discord! So we can chat about it together, while watching it. (My discord link is on my main channel page and in all my video and stream descriptions).

So just wanted to give a heads up: in case you haven't heard, Youtube is updating how ads are chosen/automatically placed. So, there may be more ads in my videos... but this is not something I have control over. I'm really sorry. Hopefully they won't be too intrusive or unskippable ones.

I hate ads when I'm watching videos too, that's why YT Premium is a must-have for me, but I know that's not an option for everyone. If it is an option, I highly recommend it, especially the family plan as then up to 4 different accounts can be ad-free. Much more cost effective, if you have a few people to share it with.

If there's a specific video that is unwatchable because of the ads, PLEASE let me know so I can try to figure out how to fight them over ad placement... or if the bots won't cooperate, at least I can upload a copy to the members-only videos list here or on Patreon, where I should be able to make them ad-free. Please, please let me know how this goes and how it affects your viewing experience.

So it seems my recent flu virus has caused a flare-up of my long-standing chronic illness. I'm going to be really real and vulnerable with you all for a bit, if you'll indulge me.

This illness has followed me my whole life, and since it's genetic in nature, it cannot be cured, only managed. (It's called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, if you're curious. It can cause a lot of joint and muscle pain and debilitating fatigue.) Thankfully it's not anything deadly, it's "only" the kind of illness that makes life difficult.

It's the reason why I've been "just" a housewife with hobbies and side hustles for the last decade and a half, because there aren't many careers that are ok with you being all in and working hard, being creative and amazing some days... and other days struggling just to do the absolute bare minimum. And not being able to schedule when I'll be in a hyperfocus and get a ton of stuff accomplished... or when I'll need extra down time and get nothing done. Or when I'll have a crash or flare up that lasts months or years... with no known end date in sight.
As I struggle to just do the bare minimum levels of living, getting out of bed, cooking, laundry, grocery shopping, medical appointments and therapies. When just taking care of myself is a full time job.

This is why I've been so excited about YouTube as a career. Because when I'm feeling good and have extra energy, I can create something cool, make a video I can be proud of, do streams and entertain and help people... and then when I need to pull back for a while, my prior work can keep working. Those videos can still be getting views, answering questions, helping and entertaining people. Until I've recovered and have the energy to create again. It's a career that can be flexible and work around my unpredictable illness.

So, it seems I'm in a crash again, and rather than the few days or a week or two to recover, like usual, this one may take longer. But just know, I'm not quitting. I'm not abandoning my community. I am so grateful for what we've built. Often you all are the reason I get out of bed in the morning. 💜

I need to pull way back for a while. My content may be more along the lines of a stream every other week or so, and one video a month. It will slow to a trickle. But it isn't stopping. I've been through this before. I'll be back.

And I especially want to thank my Patreons and channel members, those who have been with me for the long haul, as well as the newer ones who discovered my content more recently. Thanks for believing in me. Tbh it helps me believe in myself, some days. "What I'm doing must have value, look at all these people who are willing to send me their hard-earned dollars because they appreciate my content, me sharing myself with them, so much!"

You all give me hope, that maybe someday this can be an actual viable business, that can help pay some bills and take some of the pressure off my amazing, hard working husband, who has had to work 2-3 jobs for most of the 17 years we've been married. Because of you all, I have a dream. Something I'm working toward that is more than just a little hobby or diversion. You are the ones who inspire me to keep putting one foot ahead of another, to keep going, even when the pace has to slow to a crawl for a while. But it's not stopping. I'm not quitting. I'll be back.
