Whether or not you call yourself an artist, I implore you, please hear out our cry for help.

As artists, we pour our time and passion into our craft. AIs have no passion. Time doesn't matter to them. AIs cannot reap the benefits (emotional, monetary, what have you) that humans can.

Then there's the double-standard: Musicians are protected from AI...so why not us? We're not compensated by sympathy, protective legislation, or monetary gain as musicians are. There are no laws in place that vouch for visual artists.

Real people are being let go from their jobs because their employers can plug their old art into AIs and gain unlimited resources. All without the original artists' knowledge or consent.

My dear friend ‪@livmeentertainu‬ has fallen victim to this pandemic: I found her artwork in a massive database of images that trained the LAION AI. Without her knowledge or consent.
