Nevada Dairy Effluent Equipment Specialists
Contract milker Vincent Trabasas at Todd Dairies in Winton, Southland, explains how the farm increased effluent coverage from around 30% to 100% using a Nevada 16,500L Tandem Axle Slurry Tanker.
Before the tanker arrived, Todd Dairies produced around 245,000kg of milk solids from 520 cows. This season, Vincent says they are tracking towards 260,000kg from 485 cows.
Vincent says reaching the whole farm has helped grow more grass, reduce in-shed feeding from around 4kg to 2kg, and use less synthetic fertiliser. Farm owner Shannon Todd also had the effluent tested, finding around seven units of potassium in every 16,000L load.
The setup also includes a Nevada Electric Stirrer and a KlipTank with approximately 90 days of storage.
