Hi! I'm Jon.
I'm a chef based out of Detroit. I used to run a secret kitchen here before COVID and was on my way to opening a small restaurant here too. Now I'm a full time content creator hoping to teach people about food, culture with a mission to empower people to express themselves though food.

Hey everyone! If you’re in Detroit this Thursday Sept 18 I’ll be at DeVries and Co. signing books at 6pm for Eastern Market After Dark!
I’ll also be making a fusion Szechuan Chili Oil / Salsa Macha to add to the Raclette Nachos that they’ll be serving if you want something a lil’ spicy!
Hope to See you there!!
Here are some unrelated dog pics

And those wolves are cows.

Going on another week long camping trip next week.
Where are some things I should try making? Given my limitations I’ll do my best.

Plating this watermelon salad for fun and you can tell I haven’t worked in a restaurant since 2020 😂.

Hey everyone!
It's been really nice getting more lives in this week after being away for so long. I'm essentially feeling fully recovered from my tonsil infection (which I didn't even know something could put a guy out like that for nearly a work week) and am back home filming more food stuff.
I've been really enjoying this greed goddess dressing recipe that I made yesterday. A little healthier than traditional because I swapped mayo for non-fat yogurt and avocado and came up with something that tasted like a green goddess dressing but had a creamy quality somewhere in between a dressing and a super light guacamole. I made a bunch so expect a few recipes from that. I'm thinking a regular salad, a watermelon salad, and a cold pasta at least.
No photos of that yet so here's more Boba

Currently in Miami with an insane tonsil infection. Night sweats and swollen lymph nodes but I’m starting to recover, I think.
Anyway here is Boba before, during, and after a 7 mile run. We did break in the middle for her to cool off in a dog park pool in Cass Corridor.

It’s been a long time since I created something that you guys can actually try.
So I created a drinking vinegar with Lindera Farms that is based on the osmanthus flower. The flower comes from East Asia and it’s related to the olive, but it smells like apricots and honey. We use a bit of salted Plum to bring it back down from its floral sweetness, and now it can be used as a nonalcoholic beverage based, just mix it with a little bit of sparkling water, or as a base for cocktails or even as a base for salad dressing. I like doing these one off limited edition projects because it gives me the opportunity to try some wildly different things. If you get a chance to try some I hope you love it.

It was a great week of camping and I learned a lot about maintaining a double tent set up.
My @SnowPeakUSA1958 Hexa Tent over their takibi fire pit and grill was an excellent combo and let me cook while it rained and my @ZempireCamping tent was super comfortable as always.
I’ll be doing these week long stints again, hopefully every month till winter so there will be a lot of content and lessons to share.
I love working and cooking over fire and the limitations prove a fun challenge for me.
Let me know what you think I should try cooking next time I head out into the woods and I’ll see what I can do.
