Hey all! I just wanted to give you guys an update and kinda share my thoughts on the content that I post here.
I recently posted an updated version of my "Sleepless City Treno" cover, and that was actually only one of the many videos that I have been wanting to re-record. I have grown as a guitar player over the years and a lot of my arrangements have evolved. I have changed the way I play some of those songs, and I have learned new techniques that I went back and applied to older covers.
Basically what I am saying is, expect more re-dos and re-arrangements from me this year. I won't be re-doing every single video of course, and the ones that I do won't necessarily be in chronological order; meaning I might re-do a song I did only 3 years ago before I re-do a song from 7 years ago.
I will upload my next re-arrangement soon (It's already been recorded!), and I think it will be a good example of a new technique being applied to older covers. Stay tuned for that!
That said, I am not focusing solely on re-recordings. I will still be learning and recording new songs/arrangements, like I always have been. I'll probably be doing a mix of both for the foreseeable future. Oh, and that doesn't necessarily mean I'll be uploading more frequently, because to be honest, polishing up the re-arrangements are taking more time and work than I expected.
Chord Sheet for my arrangement of "A Father's Pride" a.k.a. Yanxia Theme from Final Fantasy XIV. On the left, you'll find the chords I got for the original key, and on the right, the chords for the key (or "shape") that I am playing in the video. I say that because even though I am playing it in the "shape" of C Major, the capo on the 4th fret actually makes it into a different key.
Here are the chords I used for my arrangement of "Nobility Obliges" in case anyone wants to have a go at it. I'm trying to make my personal chord notes more organized so it's understandable for those of you who would like to learn from them. Hopefully the way this one is written makes sense lol.
When I said that "Nobility Obliges" was one of the most sophisticated pieces I've ever learned, this is what I meant. I ended up dividing my chord sheet into 9 different parts because I couldn't really identify any single one as being the "verse" or "chorus" or some such. All the parts have different chord progressions and none of them really repeat (well, maybe parts 4 and 5 are the same progression, just in different keys). It was quite the challenge to remember all the chords, let alone play melodies on top of them.
Wow, my Ori Main Theme cover is officially the number 1 video on my channel with the most views after the first 24 hours. The last time this happened was with Daughter of the Sea, which is still currently my most viewed video of all time. But even that one took a couple days to reach 2,000 views. Hopefully this is a good sign for my Ori cover in the long run! Thank you to everyone who is watching my videos!
I don't have tabs for any of my covers, but some people have asked for at least the chords to some of my covers. I don't know if this'll make any sense and if it's helpful at all because these notes were meant for my own personal use only, but here are the chords I used in my most recent cover, "Academy Hallways". Chords marked with a "~" are meant to be played twice as long as chords without.
When I started my youtube channel three years ago, I only had 30+ fingerstyle covers in my repertoire. I worried that I would quickly run out of content to put up on my channel, so I kept working on learning more songs.
That key is a barre chord nightmare, and you might imagine how difficult it is to do fingerstyle melodies when all the chords are barre chords. So I'm transposing this whole thing to other keys, because I am not giving up on learning this song 😂
