Today is the first day of the new semester, so, sadly, it also means it’s time for me to go dormant in terms of uploads again. I did squeeze out two more quick songs I just felt like making, SMG4: Tales of Memes’s But the Earth Refused to Die and Battle Against a True Hero. But other than that, I likely won’t be uploading much, if at all, until May, when the semester ends. Maybe, if I’m lucky, I’ll find a good window of time to just relax a bit and write some music, but I almost never have any real free time in college, so that’s unlikely.

First off, happy new year, everybody!

I’ve been thinking about something recently. It’s Bob’s themes for SMG4: Tales of Memes. And I realized just how hard that part of the OST’s going to be.

The problem isn’t the songs themselves. Not that I would know how difficult Mettaton’s themes are to make, since I haven’t done any of them yet. No.

The problem is the leitmotifs. Specifically… the fact I don’t know any good options. I’m thinking maybe I could use It’s Everyday Bro, since he and Boopkins tried to do a parody of that song in one Ssenmodnar episode. I’m thinking maybe I could get some of the harmonies from the backing tracks of some of his songs on SoundCloud (Yes, if you don’t know, a SoundCloud account was actually made for Bob around the time of the Rapper Bob Arc). Both of the above options are pretty limited in how helpful they’ll be, since they both rely on some rather short, repetitive loops. I suppose I could use them for certain songs. I could also pull some random songs from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask; Bob’s design comes from the Garos, creatures that appear in those games.

Any other ideas?

Of the many random songs I’m planning to do over my winter break, along with a few actual songs for the main SMG4: Tales of Memes OST (I’m working on the “Undertale” at this time, and it’s nearing completion), I’m also doing the Megalovania for SMG4: Tales of Memes + Swapspin. I have the thumbnail already made, I kind of have a good idea of how the song’s going to sound… but I don’t have a name yet. The name Spaghettilazing would actually fit this scenario well… if that weren’t the name of an already VERY well-known Megalovania. War of the Fat Italians would also work, but there’s already a Megalovania with that name. I contemplated the name “Spaghetti,” but that’s kind of dumb for a Megalovania. I could just use Something About Spaghetti/Something About Spaghetti-lovania, but recycling the name of another piece from my AU’s OST would be pretty lazy. Anybody have any ideas?

A thought hit me this morning.

Someday, if SMG4: Tales of Memes gets enough attention, it’s likely somebody’s going to cross it over with Sudden Changes and make a BULLET HELL for the AU.

How would they depict Meggy if they do? In Sudden Changes, Sans uses a gun as his primary weapon, so many people, when creating AU versions of BULLET HELL, just depict the Sans wielding a gun. But… Meggy already uses guns as her primary weapon of choice. So… what would the creator of this hypothetical BULLET HELL do?

I’m sure they’ll come up with something. After all, people do put spins on the premise, like how when people crossed Undertoad over with Sudden Changes, they depicted Mario as Dr. Mario.

The first song I’ll be releasing this winter break is a remake of True Fear + Final Charge, coming later tonight. I’ve wanted to remake this song for a while, but when I finally got to it, I had to basically remake it from scratch; I created the original on a school Noteflight account, which I lost access to after graduation. All that was left of its existence was a MIDI generated by Noteflight, which not only sounded like deep-fried monkey diarrhea, but when imported into Noteflight, couldn’t be salvaged. So in the end, I opted to just remake it from scratch, which took a while. I did change a ton of things from the originals, though, due to having new ideas during its development.

I did this because the Your Best Nightmare + Finale duo is my favorite Undertale song, this one is the only Your Best Nightmare + Finale I’ve created, I’m really proud of it, and I would like to see it reuploaded somewhere (I didn’t want the MIDI uploaded, because, like I said, the MIDI conversion process utterly butchered the original song) in a good state.
