I help overwhelmed lawyers take control of their time and their practice so they can achieve their goals without sacrificing their lives.
Hustling harder and “having more discipline” aren’t the answers.
On this channel, you’ll learn what actually works. Each week I share what law school didn't teach us: practical tools to reduce overwhelm, sharpen your focus, and create more freedom in your life and law practice.
I’m Dina Cataldo, a Master Certified Coach and former criminal prosecutor. After years of overworking, feeling like I couldn’t get ahead—and even overcoming a breast cancer diagnosis—I discovered how to manage my mind and my time to build a business (while still in my full-time role) and create a life I love.
You can build a successful practice and love your life too.

I’ve been feeling fun ahead of time (meaning I’m not doing things I think will feel fun. Yesterday I got an unexpected check in the mail for $100. That was fun!

I’m gutted. I had to put my dear Frankie to sleep this week.
He’s a sweet soul who’s with his brothers and sisters now. I’m happy he’s at peace, but boy do I miss him.
I’ll miss you putting your cold wet nose on my leg, long walks, tripping over you in the kitchen trying to snag a morsel I drop on the floor, snuggling on the couch, and you trying to protect me from the mailman.
Sending you love, my sweet one.

Everything you’ve been taught about what it means to be a great lawyer is a lie.
How do I know?
After 15+ years as a criminal prosecutor and another 6+ coaching lawyers, I saw it for myself.
Being a great lawyer doesn’t mean:
❌ Checking your emails during family dinners and feeling guilty
❌ Rushing from meeting to meeting and feeling discombobulated
❌ Saying “yes, I’ll that right now” to every request and feeling overwhelmed
This is non-sense.
And it was what I did for far too long.
When I stopped making being a great lawyer mean that I needed to do it at my expense, my life expanded beyond belief.
I stopped working myself to the bone, and expanded my capacity to serve more people.
I stopped rushing, and I felt more peace.
I stopped saying “yes” all the time, and the people I served were happier.
If this is the first time you’ve been exposed to this way of thinking about being a lawyer, this may seem counterintuitive.
That’s only because we’ve been brainwashed by the legal profession to believe being “busy” is a badge of honor and that we must be available all the time to create happy clients.
Those are old world rules designed by a lawyer in the 18th century.
I was tired of living by someone else’s rules.
Busy is not the way I wanted to live.
I wanted freedom.
I wanted peace.
I wanted a life where I decided the rules.
If that’s what you want too, I’m having a Masterclass made for you.

Whether you’re a new or seasoned lawyer, there’s one thing we have in common:
We're afraid of what other people think of us.
And this has a negative impact on the quality of our performance and how quickly we burn out.
We don't want to admit we don't know something because…
…we’re afraid people will think we’re inadequate.
We don't want to ask for help because…
…we think we're supposed to know everything out on our own...and we don't want anyone to think we’re inadequate.
We don't want to leave the office early…
…because we're afraid other lawyers will think we're slacking…and think we’re inadequate.
All this worrying about what others think is exhausting! 😵💫
I spent so much time worrying about what others thought of me that I didn't think about what mattered most: what I thought about me!
When I began caring more about what I thought about me, that changed everything.
I became a high-performer in my practice and in my life.
I began making decisions to create the life I wanted instead of the life others thought I should live.
And guess what? I started feeling more energized.
Dropping the need for people to like me freed up my brain to focus on taking action in alignment with what I wanted and needed.
And when I did that, I started liking myself more.
What is caring about what others think costing you?
Really think on this.
What would you do if you weren't scared about what other people might say about you?
How would you be different?
✨✨If you want to drop the old paradigm in the law and become a high-performer, join me for my August Masterclass.✨✨
It’s called:
“The Busy Lawyer’s Toolbox: Calm Overwhelm and Become a High-Performer in Your Practice.”

Do you feel safe with money?
I didn't always feel safe.
I'd avoid looking at my expenses and making a budget because I felt so much shame.
I believed "I should be further along," "I'm not working hard enough," and..."If I had more money I'd be happier."
When I believed what my brain told me, I avoided looking at my expenses and creating a budget. This created a horrible relationship with myself and money.
Can you relate?
Thinking this way about money costs us.
Literally. 💸
Talking about money in our society is frowned upon, and that old paradigm only does us harm.
We need to shed light on money issues and creating wealth - especially for the ladies out there. Because we have some special considerations.
That's why I wanted to have a conversation about money on this week's episode of Be a Better Lawyer Podcast with financial advisor Niraj Chhabra.
You can watch our conversation about financial freedom here:
He talks about wealth creation and wealth management in a way that's approachable and safe. And in a way that will speak to women in particular.
He truly comes to his work with an open heart, and I think you'll appreciate that when you hear him on this week's episode.
Watch our honest and open conversation about having financial abundance here:
I highly encourage you to listen in and take notes.
It's an episode that can truly help you change your relationship with money.

When you're working as hard as you can, and you don't see progress, it hits your confidence.
You begin believing you're inadequate...an imposter.
You begin believing there's something wrong with you.
You ask, "How is it possible that I'm working 18 hours a day and not getting my work done?"
You ask, "How are other people accomplishing so much, and I'm accomplishing so little?"
Speaking from experience, I'll tell you how...
It's death by a thousand paper cuts.
We deflate our confidence every time we say to ourselves,
🚫 "I'm lazy"
🚫 "I'm just not disciplined enough"
🚫 "I'm not working hard enough"
🚫 "There must be something wrong with me"
🚫 "I'm disorganized"
🚫 "I should know better by now"
The voices in our head determine the quality of our performance.
The more we tell ourselves the same stories, the louder this voice gets.
It's our job to notice these stories -- no matter how true they seem right now -- and question them.
🤔 What if you're not lazy? What if what your brain thinks is laziness is actually burnout?
🤔 What if it doesn't take more discipline? What if it takes some other skill you just haven't learned yet? Like compassion? Like asking what you need and giving it to yourself?
🤔 What if you are working hard enough? What if it's that you haven't stopped to define what working "hard enough" means to you? Or that you haven't learned how to acknowledge all that you do?
🤔 What if there's nothing wrong with you? What if you simply need better tools?
🤔 What if you're not as disorganized as you think? Or what if this simply wasn't a problem?
🤔 Why should you "know better by now?" What if law school and firms didn't prepare you for actually being a lawyer?
If you're resonating with this, I want to invite you to my August Masterclass:
"The Busy Lawyer's Toolbox: Calm Overwhelm and Become a High-Performer in Your Practice."

Do you have a hard time asking for help?
I used to think asking for help was a sign of weakness.
After all, I was lawyer.
I could solve my problems, right?
What I didn't realize is I was too close to my problems to solve them myself.
What I needed was a new perspective.
Here's what one person said about her consult experience:
"Just the perspective change and learning how to challenge/examine my thoughts is something no other coach I've found has offered so clearly...
“You really speak the truth clearly. I thank you for that."
I share this because it can be uncomfortable setting up a call with someone you've never met and asking for help.
It was for her too.
But she asked for help anyway.
Then she got the perspective she needed to make her next move.
What's your next move?
If you've been waiting for the right time to set up a call with me, consider this your sign it's time.
Book a call with me here: dinacataldo.com/strategysession
I can help you get the perspective you need.
