This iconic team photo captures the legendary STP–Paxton Turbocar crew during the Indianapolis 500 era, led by the visionary Granatelli family. Standing proudly around the revolutionary turbine-powered Indy car, the crew is dressed head-to-toe in the unmistakable STP racing uniforms, representing one of the most innovative and talked-about programs in motorsports history.

At the center of it all was the STP–Paxton Turbocar, a radical machine that challenged the conventional piston-engine dominance of IndyCar racing. Instead of a traditional internal combustion engine, the car was powered by a gas turbine engine, delivering smooth power through a unique drivetrain and introducing technologies that pushed the boundaries of what race cars could be.

The Granatelli-led team wasn’t afraid to think differently. Their approach combined engineering creativity, fearless experimentation, and a relentless drive to win. When the Turbocar appeared at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it immediately captured the imagination of fans, competitors, and engineers alike.

The car’s performance proved the concept wasn’t just bold—it was competitive. During its famous run at the Indy 500, the turbine-powered machine dominated much of the race, demonstrating incredible speed and reliability before a late mechanical issue prevented what could have been one of the most historic victories in Indianapolis history.

This photo represents more than a race team—it represents a moment when innovation challenged tradition, and when the Granatelli name became forever linked with pushing the limits of motorsports technology.

Decades later, the STP–Paxton Turbocar remains one of the most legendary and recognizable machines ever to compete at the Indianapolis 500, symbolizing the spirit of ingenuity, risk-taking, and bold engineering that defined an unforgettable chapter in racing history.

[Oxnard, California] — Granatelli Motor Sports (GMS) proudly announces a new marketing and sponsorship agreement with the No. 67 car of Kylie Glick Racing, uniting one of motorsports’ most storied families with one of its brightest young rising stars.
At just 15 years old, Kylie Glick has already established herself as a racing phenom. The Northern California native is a fourth-generation racer and the first female in her family to compete, carrying forward a proud motorsports tradition while blazing a trail of her own. Competing in Late Model stock cars—a developmental form of NASCAR-style racing—Glick has already captured victories, demonstrating a competitive maturity well beyond her years.
Unlike many young drivers, Glick approaches racing not as a hobby, but as a defined career path. Her ultimate goal: to climb the ranks and compete in the NASCAR Cup Series, the pinnacle of American stock car racing.
For Granatelli Motor Sports, the partnership represents a natural alignment of heritage, talent, and vision.
For more than 80 years, the Granatelli name has been synonymous with innovation and excellence in motorsports. The family’s deep-rooted racing legacy includes historic connections with icons such as the Andretti and Petty families, two of the most respected dynasties in American racing history. From Indianapolis to drag strips across the country, the Granatelli brand has stood for performance, engineering excellence, and competitive grit.
“Kylie is just a one-in-a-million driver find, and we could not be happier to create what could be a new lifelong association,” said J.R. Granatelli, Team Principal of Granatelli Motor Sports. “Her determination, poise, and natural race craft remind us of the great young talents we’ve seen emerge over the decades. We’re excited to support her journey and help guide her path to the highest levels of the sport.”
The agreement extends beyond stock car racing. In a parallel announcement, Jojo Granatelli, son of J.R. Granatelli, will carry the Calibur Automotive logo on his 2026 NHRA Pro Mod drag racing effort, further strengthening the marketing collaboration and cross-platform brand activation between the organizations.
The partnership also reflects a powerful and timely narrative within motorsports: the rise of women competing and thriving in a traditionally male-dominated arena. Glick’s emergence represents a broader evolution within the sport, where talent, discipline, and performance speak louder than gender. Her presence in Late Model competition—and her ambition to reach NASCAR’s highest ranks—signals a new era of opportunity and inclusivity.
“This association is a dream come true for me as I begin my fledgling racing career,” said Glick. “I mean, who better to have as mentors than the Granatelli family? They bring strong marketing prowess and driving tips if I ever need them. To be connected with a family that has meant so much to racing history is incredibly special.”
From a marketing standpoint, the partnership is equally compelling. The combined social media presence of Granatelli Motor Sports and Kylie Glick Racing creates a dynamic platform that reaches an ideal demographic of young motorsports fans, performance enthusiasts, and next-generation consumers. Together, the two brands will collaborate on digital campaigns, fan engagement initiatives, and strategic sponsor activations designed to maximize visibility both on and off the track.
As Kylie Glick continues her ascent through the racing ranks, backed by one of motorsports’ most iconic families, this agreement marks the beginning of what both organizations believe could be a defining and long-term relationship.

J.R. Granatelli — Throwback Storytime

“I remember #NMRARacing complaining the front end of his car was too long… so right there at the track, we grabbed a sawzall and shortened it on the spot. The looks on everyone’s faces when we rolled up to the line — and kept going round after round — were absolutely priceless.

Bill, you were mental in the best way possible. Hard to tame, competitive about literally everything… you’d turn going to the bathroom into a race if you could. That’s the kind of energy that made those days unforgettable.”

This was back when racing was raw, chaotic, and fun — when eight guys would cram into one room at a Motel 6, eat junk food, wrench all night, and still show up first in the staging lanes. No trailers full of tools, no big budgets, just passion, creativity, and a whole lot of crazy.

Those were the days.

Throwback to one of the wildest weekends we’ve had in a long time.
The 2025 race season kicked off hard at the @shifts3ctor Airstrip Attack in Hondo, TX, and looking back, it still feels unreal.

It was one of those weekends where everything clicked for both Granatelli Motor Sports and our friends at @acgautomotive. James (@wieisme) absolutely tore it up in his @amsperformance Alpha 12 Performante, perfectly dialed on @motecusa by @rob.tuned. Six passes over 200+ MPH, a win in the Ethanol Class, and even a Saturday run where he outran a twin-turbo Calvo Viper. Sunday’s rematch was a nail-biter—218.55 MPH to James’ 216.45 MPH—but watching a stock-motor V10 hang that hard was insane.

And for me, making my first #AirstripAttack half-mile appearance behind the wheel of the Granatelli Motor Sports @boostlogic Audi R8, tuned by @pearsontuned on @dyno_spectrum, was something I’ll never forget. 208.91 MPH, into the AWD Finals, and officially joining the 200MPH Club—just like my dad JR did the year before. A real full-circle moment.

Plus, running my lucky number 20 made it even better.

Weekends like that remind you why we race, why we chase big speed, and why this community means so much.

Now we’re shifting gears and getting fired up for the next event in Bakersfield.
If Hondo set the tone, Bakersfield is where we plan to raise the bar.

Can’t wait to run it back.
