“Get over it.”
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people say this. I’ve heard it said to me in my personal life and as a Coach, I have noticed this to be a common thing I help others work through when they are told this too.
When you tell an abuse survivor with CPTSD to “get over it,” you’re telling someone to “get over” trauma that was so severe that it literally damaged their brain.
Living with this is not something you just get over. It’s something you struggle through for years. To shame someone who is already struggling through such a horrible experience is a direct reflection of a lack of empathy and understanding.
Moving forward towards a happier life can be an uphill battle. It’s something I do passionately as a Coach and I’ve helped countless lives process their breakups and move forward towards finding happiness again. If Coaching is something you’re looking to try, feel free to dm me with any questions you have or book a session using the link in my bio.

It’s so beautiful!” I stared at the blue water flowing through a fairytale city in Annecy as crisp raindrops covered my skin.
“Let me take a picture of you with your red umbrella!” My best friend smiled sweetly as she raised her phone up and snapped a shot of me.
I found myself filled with happiness. I was holding an umbrella with tags still attached. My partner had bought it for me just hours before to keep me dry. In front of me, the people I love like a family huddled around each other, giggling at something funny my partner was saying. In the distance, thunder rumbled in a deep bellow, reminding us to hurry up and get to the restaurant before the pouring rains come. It felt like a scene from a movie but to me it was so much more than that. This was a reminder that my dreams came true. I dreamed of having a loving family—the Universe provided. I dreamed of having a loving partner—I’m with the love of my life. I dreamed of living a life of adventure—and here I am… an expat exploring the world.
If I could go back to one moment in my life, it would be when I was at rock bottom and felt like no one in the world loved me. I would sit down with that very broken soul and show her photos of my life right now. I would thank her for everything she did to get me here.
Live your life in a way that your future self will thank you for.

Walking around the city of Avignon felt like a dream. I happened to travel there during the Festival d’Avignon, which is one of the largest festivals for the performing arts in the world. People of all ages dressed up in costumes, handing out fliers to advertise their plays and dances that were happening during the week. Street performers entertained tourists and the locals, who watched in awe at their profound abilities as the smell of fresh baked bread and pastries lingered the air.
It’s moments like this that remind me why I am so grateful to be alive. I am positive that this will be a memory I will look back to for the rest of my life.
What is a memory that you look back to and smile?
