On June 22, 2025, I came across a flock of Canada geese feeding together in ‪@riversideparkconservancy1704‬. While watching the group, I noticed two adult geese wearing bright yellow neck collars. The collars displayed the identification codes KC58 and KA02.

These markers help wildlife researchers track individual birds and learn more about their movements, migration routes, survival, and behavior.

In this video, I share photos of the tagged geese, the rest of the flock, and the young goslings that were feeding nearby. I also explain why some Canada geese wear neck collars and how these simple sightings can support bird research across North America.

If you spot a Canada goose with a neck collar, leg band, or other wildlife marker, you can report your sighting through the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Bird Banding Laboratory. Your report may help researchers understand where that bird has traveled and how it uses different habitats.

I just watched a strong breakdown of Penn Station through-running, and it explains something many people miss about rail planning in New York City. The biggest barrier is not space. It is politics and public awareness.

Through-running is not a new idea. It has been used for over a century in cities across Europe and Asia. Instead of trains stopping and turning around at Penn Station, they continue across the region. That simple change can improve how the whole network works.

This video clearly shows how better coordination between Amtrak, NJ Transit, and the Long Island Rail Road could increase service without building many new tracks.

The time-saving benefits alone are major:

🚆 Shorter wait times between trains
⏱ Faster regional commutes
📈 More trains moving through Penn Station
💼 Better access to jobs across New York, New Jersey, and Long Island
💰 Stronger economic growth across the Northeast Corridor

Projects like this show that improving operations can be just as powerful as rebuilding infrastructure. Public education plays a big role in helping people understand why solutions like through-running matter.

If more riders understood how regional rail systems work worldwide, support for smarter transit upgrades would grow much faster.
