𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞… 𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐦 𝐈𝐬 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠

I’ve been thinking a bit lately about how much the way we work has changed. We’ve gone from “work from the office”… to “work from home”… and now, we’re shifting again. Not in a big, loud way — but it’s happening. Work from anywhere.

We’ve all got the laptops, the phones, portable internet connectivity (Starlink) — that part’s sorted. But there’s always been one thing that’s quietly kept us tethered… power. It’s one of those things you don’t think about until you don’t have it. Whether that’s on a work site, out on the road, or even just a random outage at home or in the office — everything stops pretty quickly.

Through a mix of work, time outdoors, and a bit of curiosity, I’ve found myself using my iTechworld PS1800 portable lithium power station more and more. At first, it was the obvious stuff — camping, fishing, keeping my filming gear charged for my YouTube Channel; Matt's Fishing Escapes. But it didn’t take long before it started creeping into everyday life. I’ve used one on site to charge tools, as backup power in the office, running laptops and staying connected, and yes… even running the espresso machine (which is non-negotiable). That was probably the moment it clicked for me — this isn’t just “outdoor gear” anymore.

What’s interesting is how relevant this is becoming across different industries and day-to-day scenarios. If you’re on the tools, running a business, working remotely, or just someone who values flexibility, having access to reliable, portable power changes the equation. You stop asking “Can I work here?” and start asking “Where do I want to work?” — and that’s a pretty fundamental shift.

We talk a lot about flexibility, productivity, remote work… all of that. But none of it works without power. Historically, your options were limited — generators (noisy, fuel, maintenance) or being tied to fixed infrastructure. Now, with modern lithium power stations and solar setups, it’s just easier. Quieter. Cleaner. More flexible.

I’ve been using gear from iTechworld across a range of scenarios, and what stands out is how simple it is. No overthinking, no complicated setup — charge it, take it where you need it, and get on with your day.

I’ve had a few people reach out asking what I’m using and whether it’s worth it. If you’ve found yourself searching for an iTechworld discount code, I do have one — MATTSFISHING — which gives you 5% off. But more broadly, it’s probably just worth being aware of how useful this gear has become beyond the typical camping setup.

We’ve already untethered work from the office. Now we’re starting to untether it from location altogether… and once you remove that final constraint, it opens up a lot more possibilities than we probably realise.

🐟 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚: 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐖𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤

I’ve been having a lot of conversations lately — with fisho's, families and even political candidates — and one thing is clear:

𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬.
And the next 4 years is critical!

This isn’t about left vs right.
It’s not about party politics.
It’s about whether fishing still has a future here for our kids and grandkids.

Here’s what’s broken (in my view) 👇

1️⃣ 𝐍𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲
Snapper has been banned since 2019. Now bag limits for other species are being halved. These aren’t sudden problems — they’re the result of decades of poor fisheries management.
Yet recreational fishers, who follow the rules, are paying the price.

2️⃣ 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
If algal blooms and stock declines are linked to Murray flood nutrient runoff, what’s actually being done to stop it happening again?
Managing fish without fixing root causes is just damage control.

3️⃣ 𝐔𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐜 𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬
Recent changes hit recreational anglers hard, while commercial fishing remains largely untouched in some regions.
If sustainability is the goal, responsibility must be shared.

4️⃣ 𝐍𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
Other states invested in recreational fishing, tourism and sustainable fisheries.
SA keeps choosing bans over vision — despite fishing’s huge potential to drive regional jobs and tourism.

5️⃣ 𝐀𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞
RecFishSA represents hundreds of thousands of anglers, yet operates on a shoestring budget.
Strong advocacy needs proper support.

🗳️ 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
I don’t belong to any political party, but I’ll be asking every candidate:

👉 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨-𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘧𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘈 — 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘳, 𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦?

If fishing matters to you:
• Ask your candidates
• Share your story
• Speak up
