I’m Kimmie — a physician with over a decade of experience fighting for patients who have been dismissed, overcharged, and overlooked. New episode every week. Subscribe so you never miss one. 💙

Many people feel overwhelmed when dealing with their health. Appointments can be rushed, information can be confusing, and patients often leave visits unsure of what to do next.

This channel explains how healthcare actually works and teaches patients how to participate more effectively in their care.

Topics include:

• navigating doctor visits
• understanding diagnoses and testing
• recognizing healthcare red flags
• knowing what questions to ask
• advocating for your health

The goal is simple:

Help people stop feeling like they’re drowning when dealing with their health.

I am sharing something deeply personal today.

My own birth story.

I am a physician. And I still ended up in that hospital bed watching my own fetal monitoring strips knowing something was not right.

My daughter came at 31 weeks.

Watch my latest reel — I am sharing exactly what happened. And exactly what I did before it happened that I believe made all the difference.

She pumped in a bathroom stall.

Because her job did not have a designated space.

Because she was too afraid to ask.

Because nobody told her she had the right to something better.

The PUMP Act — signed into federal law — requires employers to provide reasonable break time and a private space that is not a bathroom for nursing mothers to pump.

You should not have to pump your baby’s food in the same room where people use the toilet.

That is not a privilege.

That is the law.

Know your rights at work:

✅ You are entitled to reasonable break time to pump

✅ Your employer must provide a private space that is not a bathroom

✅ This applies to most hourly and salaried employees

If your employer is not providing this — contact the Department of Labor.

Share this post. A pumping mother at work needs to know her rights today.

You just finished breastfeeding.

Your body did something remarkable.

It fed another human being.

Protected them.

Nurtured them.

Gave them the best possible start.

Now it is time to protect yourself.

Breastfeeding reduces your risk of breast cancer. But it does not eliminate it. And Black women are 38% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women — not because we get it more but because we are diagnosed later.

The mammogram that could catch it early is the next act of love you give yourself.

The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms starting at 40. If you have a family history start earlier. And if cost is a barrier the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program provides free or low cost screenings.

You spent months giving your body to someone else.

Now give yourself 20 minutes.

Schedule your mammogram today.

Share this post. A woman you know just finished breastfeeding and needs to see this today.

I want to hear from you.

This community was built for Black women who are tired of being dismissed, overlooked and underprepared when it comes to their health.

And this week we have been talking about something deeply personal.

Breastfeeding.

So I want to ask you directly:

Did you breastfeed?

Did you want to but could not figure out how?

Did someone shame you for it?

Did nobody in your family know how to help you?

Or are you pregnant right now and trying to figure out if it is even possible for you?

Drop your story in the comments.

No judgment here.

No wrong answers.

Just real women having the conversation we should have been having a long time ago.

Because the village our mothers never had — we are building it right here. Right now. Together.

Follow Kimmie LifeWorks for new episodes every week. And share this post so more Black women find this community today. 💙

Unexplained symptoms don’t mean no problem.

It means the answer hasn’t been found yet.

Some conditions don’t show up right away.
Some symptoms come and go.
Some tests miss what’s actually happening.

And sometimes… things get overlooked.

“Normal” doesn’t always mean resolved.
It just means more context is needed.

Pay attention to patterns.
Speak up when things change.
Ask what else it could be.

You deserve answers that make sense.

Follow for clear, real guidance on navigating healthcare.
